I thought he played really well for his first game of afl, would have been better if he had finished it off with a few goals, but doesnt matter, the main thing was he got a fair bit of ground time, and he used it.He looks confident when he has the ball, which is good to see.There is only one problem? Why didnt the match commitee realise this early?
Anyway good debut from skip,we just might have a star player in the making.
 
Only took 3 marks, but provided a target when up forward. Maybe is better suited to CHB since we seem to be short one quality CHB.

JAred Brennan played quite a blinder for the lions for his first AFL match. why do I torture myself?
 
I agree it was one of the better debuts from a first game player, to get on the ground and contest and play a part in a couple of goals.

Skipper will be better for the outing. Anyone who went to the pre-season game against the Lions will know what he is capable of.
I would rather see him play as the third tall rather than being used as a defender untill he gets a few more games as he really does not need to be led to the football.
He already seems to have a good feel for the game

Agreed.
Problem is we don't want to play 3 talls on the forward line. As for Skipper, it a breath of fresh air a future player we can build a forward line around.

The pre-season game against the Lions showed that there was willingness to play the three talls then and the fact that it worked should be in the back of the coaches mind.
Perhaps the injury to Harrison necessitated a re-think but really Skipper, Bowden and Bandy should be good enough. Its a shame that Wiggins did not kick on because I would actually like to see Bowden in defence this week and Wiggins's height might have tested the Lions. Playing some accountable games in defence would be the best way to see if he has what it takes.
Agreed about Skipper, but lets not get too carried away just yet.
Really the senior games he plays this season is to set him up as a long term player
 
Good first game from the young fella last night. Took a few marks, contested in the air and at ground level and looked like he could handle the pace. Was described by one Essendon supporter sitting near us as being 'a lively chap' :rolleyes: Showed a lot of promise and could probably play back as well as forward judging by his ability to get to where the footy was.

As much as I reckon Wig has the goods, Skipper's performance on debut probably pushes him well ahead in my books.

The best balance would be to have both big blokes in the team along with Darcy and Bandy. Wiggins just needs to have a game where he kicks 4 and takes 6 or 7 marks. Perhaps a run on the ball might be in order
 
Wiggins plonked in the square those few times the ball was centered but no one was home would have resulted in a couple of goals to the Doggies I reckon. Lets hope the Wig can go alright for the Bee's and give us another tall option. There are plenty of nay sayers out there but he has it in him, if David Hille can let it out... so can the Wig.

Skip played a great game for a debut!!! He has a good knowledge of the play, confidence when has the ball and he knows how to use it!!!

Go Skip i thought he showed alot i his first game.Hopefulyl hes better for his first run and gets even better throughout the season bet they are spewing he didnt play sooner.To bad he didnt get his first goal because he wouldve deserved it.

Jordy23 should continue to post on this board if he likes however, it would be better for all if he put some effort into his comments rather than replying to 15 threads and continually only using one or two words per thread.
We need as many contributors here as we can get but really Jordy was just racking up a high post count rather than making a genuine contribution to the forum.
 
Skip looked comfortable with the higher level of competition - should go well.
