I think people underestimate (or don't appreciate) the comedic relief of Jako. If you try not to take things so seriously, listening to him call games is quite funny. Sure he is a terrible commentator and a buffoon, but I would think his employers are fully aware of that.

i actually found him quite funny when he first started. his butchery of English and generally idiotic comments cracked me up. i thought his terrible commentry was so obvious, that fox could never keep him on, but 3 or 4 years later he's still there. the comedic value has now worn off for me, i just can't stand him!

he should "fffffffffffssssss" be alllowed to continuate his "ffffffffffssssss" commentating unadulterated "fffffssssss"!
On the PR radio segments he starts talking with no clear idea of what his point is or how to remotely get there, he quite literally starts to respond to a caller and then ends up talking about something totally different.

First I'd head that Brad Lloyd was Mathews brother. Most people probably already knew.
It sought of raises the ugly head of nepotism within footy circles.
Scary to think the only people who really care are the supporters. Everyone else is just making a buck.

Exactly, I was stunned by Jako's sudden purple tinted commentary. Still an idiot though, he Tony Shaw and Walls are the pits as commentators. He has also apparently just moved to Melville so into Dockers Heartland.

Gerard Healy is good value and knows our team cause he watches all our games. Robert Wiley, Scott Waters (although busy with Subiaco). Probably a commentating job for Macca screaming out whenever he wants it.

If you script lines like "He's growing in statue every game." they never get past the editors, but in a stroke of comic genius they have Jacko offering them up every game. One day there will be a book his isms.

I've come late to this thread as I thought it would be about how shyte Jacko is as a commentator, and its actually praising him because he seems to be going pro freo. That's all well and good, but bloody hell he's a borderline incompetent at his job.

We get the absolute raw end of commentators for Freo games. The Vic guys generally don't have a clue or we end up with muppets like Jacko who know the local scene well enough but half the time make no sense at all. I like his sentiment and what he's trying to say but he says it with a motor mouth that sounds like it disconnected from the brain some years ago - I mean his mouth seems like it's another dimension to his brain. Someone just needs to coach him to slow down actually say less and I then think he'll be on the right track.
