People saying that it should have been a free to Fevola are either biased Blues' supporters, Flogs of the highest order, or simply know ____ all about football.
Explain how it was a free to Fevola, and don't give me the shit that Bruce and Ox came up with about Fev being pushed by Fletcher.
Fact is Fevola went early, it was not a realistic marking attempt and in the process both kicked and kneed an opposition player in the head and clearly gave away a free kick for high contact.

Anyway if it was a free kick to Fev it would've been reversed for high contact.

Agree with that. I think it looked like Fev was always going to try and smash into Slattery for blocking his space... he had no hope of marking that.

he was running forwards while looking backwards. that is not courage, that is stupidity - he had should have known where people were. if fev didnt collect him fletcher would have.

I cringed when I saw Fletch move his head afterwards
Pleased to hear he will be OK. I think the well-meaning Fletch will be pleased he didn't do more damage than good looking back at it too.
Fletch took his mouthguard out so he wouldn't choke on it.
Shouldn't have been a free kick, but it did allow the medico's to get on the ground and get him off. Purely from a safety point of view, it was a good result.

The odds were not stacked in his favour in that clash. He'll learn. If Judd had shown a similar lack of awareness in his clash with Lloyd, he'd be a dead man by now. But Judd with experience was smart enough to give up on the ball and brace for the hit - and not with a millisecond to spare!
It certainly wasn't a realistic attempt to mark. Fevola was no where near it and Slattery clearly wasn't expecting contact. He was running past the contest to mop up as the ball was clearly going over the top. My question to those who have had a good look at it. Did Fevola change line to make contact?
May be so but if you look at the footage it shows Slatts with his face pointing straight at the ground. In order for Fletch to take out his mouthguard, quick and smart thinking as it was, twisted his neck to the side (90 degrees), which if there was damage to the neck could have made things a lot worse.

What was the free for? If it was for head high contact (Which is a joke anyway, theres a rumour going around in this game you can go for a mark and it was incidental high contact) Wiggins should have received a free when Ryder took that big mark. his knee hit Wiggins head.

He didn't have any awareness of Fev so not hugely courageous.

Probably cos he never took his eyes off the ball at all. Any one who says it is not couragous is gutless themselves.
So all I need to do to show courage is to wander back with the ball and get knocked out? Sheesh, sounds like he has limited feel for the game. I'd be more impressed if it was a head to head against Brown or someone similar - for all he knew it was Eddie Betts coming up behind him.

Ryders mark was incidental, a realistic attempt, that was not going to put Wiggins at any risk of injury.
Getting kneed in the head when two guys are running at full steam in opposite direction is not incidental high contact.
It shouldn't go any further and it clearly wasn't deliberate, but it was a free kick every day of the week.
