Not the end of the world here... could be right to go.. given the long break... but maybe not... just need to roll another mid in... team game boys remember team game...

Nah, abdominal surgery on Tuesday, I can't see him being right to play AFL football on Thursday 9 days later.

Why couldn't he have had this LAST week? Could have quite easily left him out of the eagles game and have him right for finals.

Can we please just take out everyone else's appendix just after the GF, or pre-season for new draftees

After the GF? Hell, if we win against GWS, I'd be getting the whole lot of them done on Friday morning. 2 weeks should be enough time to recover for the prelim, and no risk of this sh*t cropping up again.

Greenwood would've been back in anyway.

This leaves us with selecting a newbie, Hampton, Thompson, or rolling Seedsman/Atkins/Knight/Cameron etc on to the ball regularly.

I don't like any of those options at all.

Dont mind if Greenwood gets more time on the ball and then pinch hit with Atkins/Knight combination...

Does it make a difference to recovery if it bursts or not prior to removal?

Yes. The prognosis is far better if the op takes place prior to bursting. If the appendix burst there is also the possibility of complications from toxic releases into the body etc., very rare, but a burst can cause issues such as toxic shock and even death. Far better to have the op, concentrate on a quick recovery and no reason he can't be fit for Thursday week.

I guess the bright side is GWS is the one top side that doesnt bat super deep on the inside. Probably not a bad thing to have an extra outside player for a game like this. But I would still be seriously considering Hampton. Only 2 games back, but he is the best direct replacement we have in the squad.

Man that sucks, and thank goodness for the bye. If anyone can get up for this match it is Rory Sloane, and you just know he'll be doing everything he can to play.

If not then it's next man up. I see Hampton as the best fit to fill in for Sloane, despite not playing against West Coast. Great opportunity for the beast that is Greenwood to step up another level too.

Nothing great ever came easy. Keep the faith, sports fans.

Has anyone had their appendix out? How long were you below 100% for?

Hard to picture him getting tackled by Mumford within 9 days. I once fell asleep on the remote control and needed a week off work.

The appendix would have to be gangrenous for Sloane to miss out. If there are still some doubts, just chuck on a chest guard. He wore a helmet to protect a fractured cheekbone...

He will be fine , 100% he will play, no real damage just make sure teh stitches dont open up but you can strap them up fine

No real pain once its gone, if he misses will be pretty damn dissapointed, but doubt he will

Mine was more like eddie's I could barely move for over a week, wouldn't have played footy for a month. Maybe I'm soft?
If Sloane's didn't burst and they did keyhole surgery could be ok

Well Betts had his appendix out and within 12 days he was giving Port Power a golden shower as he always does.

No reason why Sloane can't come back in, despite the shorter time frame. Eddie's burst and it sounds like Sloane's didn't, so fingers crossed it'll heal quicker.
