Tell you what, he was absolutely brilliant tonight against Buddy.

He more than held his own and held Buddy goalless for the first time in 33 games.

Even when Buddy looked like he was going to score a goal, SNOS' second efforts to pressure and frustrate Buddy were nothing short of sensational.

Only wish a few of the players could've followed the example that SNOS set

Was looking for somewhere to comment on this.

He was exceptional tonight, for a few reasons.

1. He played the ball, and didn't "succeed" due to the way Franklin is umpired.
2. He backed himself to read the play and consistently had best position in one-on-one contests.

....

Franklin always struggled against Lake for the same reason, but most other defenders play Franklin from behind and rely on the leniency of the umpires, and/or the help of their teammates to slow him down. Once in that position, Franklin's incredible size/speed/agility combination lets him overcome his lack of ability in reading the ball in flight.

Franklin still had 20-odd touches and contributed, but that's all he was - a contributer like a dozen or so other players on the ground. He wasn't the key figure on the ground, (though to be fair he didn't need to be).

Someone else said it but we need another 30 odd guys with his character...Champion of the highest order..

He has been awesome all year. Often plays undersized to his massive opponents but he has soo much courage and talent.

Wasn't the greatest conditions for the forwards but did he play well! Big scalp to take and was able to limit his influence. Bright future defencive post for the wharfies. Probably best on for freo IMO with Broughton and Fyfe.

Lots of good defenders coming out the rookie drafts in recent times. Might be the way to go for some clubs.

He was simply superb. As the Hawks poster above said, we will definitely see more defenders coming out of the lower grades since the success of He & Brougton and Carlton with Duigan.

Absolutely stoked to be proven wrong by him, gave buddy a bath. He is just such a great competitor, doesn't like to lose and was one of the few lights in a dark night.

Symbolic of the night was the fact that when SNOS got in those wrestles and mini melees with Franklin he was left to fend on his own. FFS, he is playing on the opposition's best and most intimidating player! McPhee, Ballantyne, anyone! Go over and bump the ****, support your teammate and show some passion. As soon as i saw that at the start of the game i thought 'we are gonna be timid and get smacked'. It happened.

Fantastic game Silva, you beast :thumbsu:

He played an absolutely brilliant game, well done young man.
He had Buddy so frustrated I was screaming for Clarko to sub him off becuase I thought he was going to blow his stack.
He got under his skin, led Buddy to the ball time after time and continued to play him in front and run off him.

Would easily be top 10 most important players at the club IMO. When is he contracted to? Get him into the same boat as our A graders I reckon. Well done snos, how could I not sit in pouring rain when you're out there slogging your guts out. :thumbsu:
