Very, very good win today but really, how are we travelling?

He all know that noone else rates us but big deal. I couldn't really make an educated assessment on any other club either so let's judge our own side.

Last year we were very high up in the ventures into the forward 50 but had no forwards to take advantage. The best aspect of our games this year is that we have options up forward with people putting up their hand to present themselves. I've always liked Beinke (even though he comes from Port) but the likes of Bode, Schell, Welsh and Rutten (How's he going to get on the list) etc, are now giving us options. Forget whatever the other supporters are saying, we are looking ok.

Still got Fitzy to come back so I'm sitting fairly happy at the minute.

Well, we're 107 points better than the C-Grade team Melbourne put out there today :D

Hard to say Spogs, I don't think we're quite settled at the key positions, CHB or CHF, but we're trying out a few things and we have quite a few players fit and in-form, which is all you have to do at this stage of the preseason.

Rutten could go on the list, maybe for Hentschell, but are we going to stick with him there for the season proper?? If we are, then fair eonugh, it's good to see him get the game time but otherwise I'd like to see us take shape the season proper. I wonder if Stevens in the backline is what we'll have to resort to for the next few weeks while McGregor is out or whether it was just to get him some match practice in the easier CHB role??

Also good to see the Roo in a leading forward role, ala Brad Johnson.

Anyway Spogs, I reckon you're right, we're going okay, looking reasonable at this stage, with promising signs for the start of the AFL season.

The only things that concerned me today were the amount of times we had no one in our 50m area and the ease that opposition teams seem to have taking the ball away after we kick a point. We need to start settling the side down for the season proper, and find ourselves definate starters for CHB & CHF.

I'm quite happy with our work thus far. We played positive footy for four quarters today, which was good to see as we havent been doing that enough. Well done Crows.

I don't hear much about the crows up here but I think i'd like to see the crows scrub Angwin and put young Rutten on the list. Ok, we'll lose out on trade value but what about throwing some confidence behind a young kid and maybe develop a youngster who really wants to play for the side.

I agree Jerome about us finally playing four quarters of good footy. What we've all been waiting for. Well below a flat out performance against mediocre opposition but hey, winners are grinners. I didn't get the same impression as you about the defensive game of our forwards, I'm only getting a fairly rusty radio transmission from the Riverland but I felt our forwards were working a bit harder than last year. Let's face it, Vardy never chased and Jar's, well....couldn't be stuffed.

I don't care what they say about the preseason cup but nothing beats winning any game.

Can't really tell from that game how we are really travelling, but it was a good 4 quarter effort. IMO, or midfield will be even stronger this year with Bode & Doughty stepping up (which should allow Stenglein to play in the backline).

Just need Fitzy to come in to the forward line to give us a big man option. Also, I'm concerned Perrie hasn't got much of a run. He appears out of favour. Rutten looks agood prospect & seems to have a goody footy brain, but I'm not convinced he is ready at this level yet. Probably need a good run in the SANFL. Looks like Beinke & Welsh will be solid contributors this year. Signs look promising, but lets not get to carried away yet as the real season hasn't yet started.

BEEEUUUUATiful

Roos lookin hungry:D

Speaking of Roo, get a load of his arms. I've only seen one game but the boy is huge. In fact quite a few of them have bulked up a lot over the summer. Craigy must be a real mongrel to have around the club if you're a player.

The defensive work from our forwards has improved a bit, with Welsh, Beinke, Burton and Bode putting on some good tackles. My main concern in the past two weeks is the number of times there has been no Crows in our forward 50 and when we move forward there is no one to kick to. Or is someone is quick enough to get back there they are caught under the ball. Someone should be in the square at all times.

Still, they've put in some good honest performances in the past month. Friday night should be a beauty.
