... because it is not available to Australians unless you happen to accidentally hook up to your neighbour's wireless and your neighbour has some sort of thing installed which lets them view overseas video sites normally blocked to Australians...

Following?

Anyway you're watching this video on this site which is normally blocked if you open it from Australia and... the ads they slot in are all Australian ads.

Sorry Chief, I'm looking but I'm not seeing...!!!

You might need to talk me through this thread so I understand what point you're trying to convey...

The layman may not understand what you mean. But I am not a layman, nor a strawman.

My point is, yes the hypocrisy is great, but I would not inform the interwebs of your access. While we are no North Korea, we still have ASIO. If the Australian Advertising Community knows that Australians are watching, then we know that everyone else is!

They will take the three weeks advance you have with American sitcoms out on you!..... out on your hide!

Not worth it, just download it from piratebay!

I was linked to it but didn't expect to get on. The video played, but then I realised the laptop had hooked into a wireless connection from the flats next door.

I switched back to my own network and the site said I couldn't watch any more because the service was not available in my region.

Sure, it just 'hooked into' the wireless next door.

I'm pretty sure there is a setting in Firefox, location setting.

You can disable it, I did it a few weeks ago, if I accidentally ended up at a pr0n site, it would have advertising links saying meet hot girls in Adelaide. All it does is use your location but you can disable it in Firefox. it no longer uses my location.

Sounds dodgy but there is a weak signal from a router next door. If I haven't set my lappy up right - long story about Optus router needing manual ip settings and having to delete home wi fi while at uni - it hooks into that network.

I have often wondered about this Chief. I presume the DNS workaround I use doesn't bother to change my location for the purposes of certain ad servers.

So when I'm at home watching the US version of Crackle, the ads are the same as the Australian version of Crackle. Or should I say ad - that one creepy Coke Zero ad where the weird Kiwi usher pranks the cinema by having served them all Coke Zero instead of Coke.

Hope none of them had phenylketonuria.
