Did anyone see that clip on the news where the Milan goalkeeper Dida got a tap on the cheek that wouldn't hurt an under 6 player. Ran a few steps then collapsed like Phil Matera crossing the white line in the goal square.
Gawd, he would faint if Josh sidled up beside him!
The wimp was obviously trying to get the result of the game changed as it happened last year (same goal keeper).
An absolute disgrace and I would stop watching our game if that sort of behaviour became prevalent.
I do notice an increase in faking (Lynchy where are you)
Fairies

Don't judge all football on Italian sides... they are the worst for diving. They have no honour, and are obilivious to the fact that it looks soooo fake. Bad choice of title for thread. Don't flame soccer....

Pathetic thread title, although I obviously agree with Dida's pathetic action/s...

Just like my under 12's coach use to say when he pointed at the soccer guys on the other oval, they are over their because there to big a wooses to be over here.

lol that was pathetic, the sole reason i hate soccer.
Loose your way to your board?? ... BTW there's diving in AFL as well .. by your reasoning you should hate AFL.. infact nearly all codes of football have diving, so if that is a sole reason for despising a game, you hate a lot of things...

they should have a 'simulation' free kick in AFL... if the umpire thinks your playing for a free kick the opposition should get a free kick..

I think the inconsistency of the umpires would eventually make us pull our hair out. I'd rather we just play on...we don't need more over zealous umps ruining the game.

'lose' you mean.

I know there's diving in the afl, that's what stops me from appreciating lloyd like dons supporters, this is what makes me have less respect for lynch. However it's nowhere near as bad and never will be, soccer players are fairies and princesses, it's unsportsman like and i think it's pathetic.

The problem with 'simulation' is that if the umpire thinks the player took a dive and ignores it, not stopping play or even giving a free kick against and it turns out the player was actually seriously injured..... well then the referee's career is as good as over.

Referee's would prefer to play it safe.

I love soccer but it's hard to defend when there's footage like that going around. I'll just finish off feebly by saying that Dida is actually a good goalkeeper. Not much else I can say other than that...

I'm dying of embrarassment for him. I'd love to know what he was thinking as he was being stretchered off...

So you don't have the conviction to back up your philosophy in it's entirety . You selectively judge codes of football by the same standard???:o

Diving is pathetic... but you'll find it more prevalent in some leagues like the Seria A as opposed to the Premier League or even the A-League.. The very same could be said about the various AFL leagues...

Should the title then be Soccer wimp??? please, its the reason why football/soccer struggles to get a major stake in the australian sporting market. 1 World Cup means people jump on the bandwagon, if they fail in their next bid... who knows another decline.

The Football over here in the Premier League (UK) it has a good flow and also the tackling and aggressive play is great to watch, not as many people diving if you like - because a kick is missed if you are on the floor breakdancing for a kick

(Italian game) -...the Serie A is based on staging to attempt to get the kicks, its part of the game for that league... but many say its the way football should be played, from the back.

However, falling over after running for 5m then needing a stretcher is limp - still though, allowing a bloke to run on the pitch and get that close means the security is poor.... but you wouldnt imagine that happening in the rugby would you - -they'd be knocked out - -

spot on.

not all soccer players are like this guy.

i agree that what he did is making the game look stupid.

but to bag all soccer players is uncalled for.

brazilian/italian soccer players are your main culprits

Yep pathetic. Doesnt excuse the Celtic fan for running onto the pitch but Dida cerainly didnt cover himself in glory either

That Guy Dida was the goalkeeper for Brazil u/21 in that game they played V Australia at Fremantle Oval many moons ago !! 1992 or 1993 me thinks

He faked being hit because last year he was actually hit by a flare thrown from the crowd which resulted in his team being handed a 3-0 win by default. So by going down again, and his team 1-2 down, it was an attempt to win the game by default.

The same thing happens in all sports as players try to take advantage of the rules. Take footy for example .. faking head high tackles, contact in the back, defender touching a ball that is kicked towards goal, all examples of acting.

It is just that with soccer being so low scoring the effects can be even more dramatic, the absolute difference between winning and losing.

It did look even more comical that normal, especially the ice pack when the contact was with the shoulder :D

AFL is a league, not a sport.
