What evidence do you have this is gunna happen here? No party is even considering something remotely close to it

And what level of govt could do it? Using the Chinese model, it's state controlled issues that control most of the control areas, but federal where the reward/sanction areas are

This has as much of a chance of happening as the Chinese secretly taking over Melbourne during the lockdown

No evidence.

Just putting the feelers out on what people think of this happening in China and potentially other countries of the world.

With lockdowns in place and the world changing fast as people we need to keep our eyes wide open.

Like I said let’s see how this plays out.

It can't work here. Stop looking at bullshit YouTube videos and conspiracy theorists, and do your own research. For a start, go to the PRC press bragging about the program. The following is essential for this to work:

1) national identity card
In China this is mandatory to carry, and has more weight than a passport. You cannot do basic stuff like stay in a hotel room without showing it. We rejected the Australia card which was essentially a photo Id for common use of federal services (not the normal commercial and social stuff the I'd card is used for)

2) access to global data
Everything is recorded, and Beijing has access to this. If you skip on a restaurant bill, we don't record that in a way that's federally accessible

3) national cctv
The project that started in Guizhou of federal access to all cctv, and integrating this with facial recognition technology is essential to the social score. It allows the govt to track everyone and monitor behaviour. Combined with phone GPS data, their ability to locate people in moments is unrivalled. Here we would face issues around privacy, state vs federal jurisdictions, and ability to access private networks.

4) acceptance
Chinese people generally support this, thanks to the Confucian teaching of putting the priorities of the family and the society above one's own. Its mostly seen as something that only affects bad agents, so they shrug and move on. We lose our s**t about a national photo I'd, medical file databases, and the covid app.


Imo the biggest obstacle is the fact nine different govts would have to agree to this and sign on. We barely do it with health, haven't done it well for education, and took years on disabilities.

China yeah China. Get it or not? Not America as of yet..

Yes they are doing it in china cos that is what authoritarians can now do with modern technology. Trump has authoritarianism in his blood And america has the best tracking technology in the world.

Just look at all the speakers at the republican convention. Mostly all Trumps. Its an authoritarian take over of the republican party. The exiles are banding together to support Biden. If Trump wins this election and gets back full control of Congress 2 years later I guarantee US democracy is dead.

If people weren't able to be convinced to download a tracking app that didn't track your interactions to help stop a pandemic, during a pandemic they won't trade anything for the illusion of privacy to be handed away to their government.

There isn't a fear campaign that could do it.

Governments can just force us. You see what happens if we start getting additional taxes for not using the app. The government forced us all to take out private health insurance using this method even though most of us dont want it.

I saw the snippet of Majority Ru;e. Terrifyingly close to what's happening in China. Extremely close camera surveillance and people judging your Social Credit score.
