Read that they were meant to turn the first sods yesterday in the $4.5 million redevelopment of the Punt Road Oval. The building works will commence almost immediately and will be finished by February next year.

It will provide us with a new gym, recovery areas and lap pool as well as new administration facilities.

Of the 4.5million, we are kicking in $3.6 million ($2m of which comes from our share of the sale of Waverley) with the balance coming from the government.

Good to see that the club really is moving forward in this regard.

that's good to hear and once all the redevelopment of Put Road Oval is done it will be exellent

Good to see the money from the Jack Dyer Foundation finally being put to use. Hopefully things will get better soon:D :p

I've never seen the club facilities, how do they compare with other melbourne clubs?

The facilities are actually quite good. At the moment that are better than most clubs - save for probably Essendon, Carlton and maybe Hawthorn.Once they are complete, they will be as good as any team in the AFL.

The facilites were upgraded a few years back partly to get the ground up to scratch so Victoria could play Shield cricket there. We also spend a few million getting the gym up to standard.

Hope it will be to Staffords Approval.

This will be the most significant improvement since we moved to the ‘G’. It will set us up for decades to come. 8 months to complete sounds fast.
