i apologise if the thread isn't needed/appropriate.

However, I think we as a supporter base need to take a good hard look at ourselves. I made the stupid mistake of having the radio (882) on over the weekend and it really pissed me off how people are ringing in defending the club. The media say we are flat trackers/soft etc and yet people ring in and say "no essendon played really well" or "we are still contenders in the top four stop picking on the club"

PLEASE STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!!

Are we really that soft a supporter base?? I just feel like there are too many grand mother supporters who are happy to watch us pretend to contend by winning home games. As supporters we must demand improvement from the club. How can we do this? I have a couple whacky ones but I'd love some other people's input.

1# boycott games
2# start a new slogan "every game is an away game" where we dress in opposition supporters colours and cheer the opposition to harden our team up (effectively an away game)

Have you seen the ratio of seniors at games to young people? There lies your answer.

Lol Freo gave my nephew's junior footy club 72 tickets to the game on Sunday and there were heaps left over only a handful took them. Can't even give tickets away. Numbers look down at Freo games this year though im sure they will jump back on the bandwagon now that they have won a couple of games

Our biggest supporter problem is the expectation, we had our run this decade back in 2015 and its now over. We need to cut and do a quick rebuild, offloading players with some currency should be our priority with Masten, Darling, Shuey, Gaff, Duggan, Sheppard and LeCras all shopped around for trade bait and players like Mitchell, Priddis, Jetta, Hill and Redden delisted after this year. Find out on our list who is going to cut it at AFL level and move on those who wont, the hard decisions made now will hold us in great stead in 2-3 years time instead of bottoming out in 2 and slowly climbing back up for the next decade.
