"Queensland is on track to achieve its 50 per cent renewable energy target by 2030, and is expected to hit 20 per cent this year," he said.

"We continue to be a world leader in rooftop solar, with more than 560,000 Queensland households sporting solar systems.

"All of this has been achieved despite the investment wet blanket of constantly changing national energy policy, and no integrated climate and energy policy."

But I though QLD was full of rednecks that are the sole cause of Scomo winning?

Sole cause gives central Qld too much credit ,the outer burbs fell for the daggy dad shtick too
but
There are many reasons to get solar panels, economics might be the trigger not the environment for some

Qld is full of rednecks but it's also pretty sunny.

The "great" thing about coal is that you can keep digging it up and shipping it to Asia while getting free "green" energy at home that offsets a fraction of a percentage of the damage you are causing.
and that doesnt include the damage from the gas too
the sooner our energy exports are replaced by solar power produced Hydrogen the better

What's so great about Hydrogen?
Its another battery
Offers a storage solution/export product/gas alternative which makes over building renewables more viable as they have an end product to sell when the grid doesnt need it.

Japan Singapore and Korea are betting on a hydrogen future we have the sun and wind and existing gas pipelines to supply them

It wont add up for a while for a lot of people, except for those that are a great distance from a power pole
The electric/hybrid car as a duel purpose storage battery for the house and transport will be more cost effective quicker than a stand alone battery.
Solar hot water would be a much better investment for a return on investment now
I was considering getting a solar hot water system but I don't have a north facing roof section so it would instead have to face west, is it still worth it in southern WA?

I looked into these a little while ago for both my house and my mum’s. It was uneconomic for my place, but my mum has a pool pump that runs several hours a day which made the payback period much shorter.

From experience shopping around, installers want to sell you way more panels than you need. Every quote I got was double the number of panels than what I’d calculated to be the economic sweet spot.

Batteries are a complete waste of money, no matter how I did the numbers I couldn’t make them stack up.

i have 18 panels, 3.5kw inverter
i am on a 51c feed in tariff

my last bill for 3 months was 652kw of usage costing me $280, and 795kw exported earning me $405.
so each qtr i am making money. that money covers my gas usage. so i am energy neutral.
Overreliance on feed-in tariffs for long term payback is a bit dangerous, because from an energy policy perspective they are a bit of a Ponzi scheme. There is a not-insignificant chance that future governments will cut or eliminate them.

I got evacuated tubes they are supposed to be very efficient and dont need to be as North orientated as a flat panel

A company helped me to switch to a renewable supplier, a green one as it is called. BTW, when I compared energy prices I come up with the idea to change supplier due to https://usave.co.uk/energy/ In took ten days, the company provided all, I just enter some data, the tariff. I pay now 200 monthly, a good price I would say. Just satisfied, who is going to compare the energy prices I highly recommend that website.
