Fancy playing solomon against Geelong. He should be dropped asap.

We must get back to playing our fast running game and we need young, quick runners that can break the lines. Something that was working so well last year has dissapeared this year. If we don't end this stop-start pathetic football this week, im cutting up my membership
WE are a DISGRACE at the moment. Connolly needs to recognise a bad investment aka Solomon and get rid of him and bring in some young quick players that can run with the ball.

Saturdays game had me fuming:mad:

your an idiot. Solomon was in our top 5 players.

I dont care! Did we win the Game? NO! so what does it matter. Solomon may tackle, and may crunch bodies but he dosent win games of football! If you had some understanding of football maybe you would realise my point.

he gave his all, by tackling hard, and crunching bodies it wears teams down. Its that type of intensity that does win you football matches.

Solomon is one of the few players who kept going non-stop against Geelong. Yes, he's not the fastest player, but we don't have many tacklers in our team.

Loveit you are a tool and you obviuosly dont know the game. Why not drop macca as he is alot worst than Solly. Wait maybe drop Sandi, Bell and J Carr aswell cos they are all slow too i mean it dont matter if they are in out top 10 players performing week in week out cos they are slow!!!

13 tackles I guess is not a great return. At least someone was getting in having a real crack. Don't know what game you were watching but there would be a lot of people in the team getting the chop before him.

The only thing we do need is increased intensity. If the intensity goes up then everything falls into place. You win more contested ball and create more turnovers. Suddenly our midfield has more space and free players, no one looks slow anymore.

Solomon provides this. He did so on the weekend, 13 tackles indicates this. Whats more he had 4 frees for and only 1 against, which goes against how his naysayers have pigeon holed him.

if you call yourself an AFL football suporter then i will never call myself one again. i would be ashamed to be considered in the same group as you ever. the worst post i have ever read in my life... any player who has 13 tackles in one match is insane. solomon has given you guys so much so far this year and for him to cop that abuse is ridiculous. he was in your top players this week, so you think that speed is the only quality that a footballer needs? yeah well obviously james hird is shithouse then as demonstrated on saturday... he doesnt have speed and absolutely anihilated brisbane. nathan buckley, not quick he is shit too then, same with rob harvey, they all need to be dropped because they arent quick

Yes we need pace, who do you suggest we bring in then?

Solomon has been great but we do need a super fast small forward. One thats hellbent on keeping the ball inside 50 and stopping the opposition from rebounding.

Collard step on up. Farmer wish you weren't suspended.

Was I the only one who thought this topic was someone pulling the piss about people calling for Solly's head over the last few weeks before opening it up to read??

Solomon was not the problem on the weekend. He was one of the better players. How about dropping a couple of the Dockers who have not been performing all year. Let's start with Headland! Except for 1 brilliant game and the following so-so game he has been dismal. Then we can look at Josh Carr (was he on the ground). Several others were not trying hard enough. Fortunately a few tried really hard (Bell, Hayden, Solomon to name a couple). Not good enough for a team supposedly a grand finalist according to the preseason hype.

I'm not a fan of Tony Shaw as an announcer and a couple of times he showed his severe lack of knowledge of interstate teams, but he made a correct statement during the game when he said that the type of footy the Dockers were playing is the type that loses coaches their job. Either Connelly is coaching them badly or they are not doing what he asks. Either way it doesn't look good.

Oh dear. Carr had 24 disposals, which is a couple more than Bell. His 6 tackles were handy too. In the first quarter he was awesome. Bell had a good game, but mainly in the last quarter when the game was over.

Solomon layed 13 tackles on Saturday.
As people said we don't have many players willing to tackle let alone tackle in our team. Very important component in trying to win the ball off the oppostion.

Don't get all defensive. Soloman laid 13 tackles yes, but his overall impact on the game wasnt great.

Soloman would come in useful against Sydney or when we play on wet days. But playing Geelong one of the quickest teams in the AFL, we can't afford people to just tackle and think they have done the job. What we need is run.

WE have none of it at the moment, and when we do get our running game together we are a very good side. If i had my way, i would drop soloman and bring in Cook who is probably the best tackler in our side, and also he is a good running player. I agree Headland also should be looked at. And i dont no why we keep playing campbell either. I think if we can get some speed into the side we will be very hard to beat, particuarly when we have Pavlich and Tarrant awaiting quick deliver. The quicker we get it dwon to them the better chance they have of taking a mark. The way we play atm sides just continue to flood back and it gives Pav and Taz little hope.

Steady everyone. As you were.

Its only one person out of 42,000 members and associated Essendon supporters.

Hird is quicker than he looks.

Ummm... hwere would you get this speed? Cook is pretty slow. Farmer suspended. Peake and Browne hurt. And Schammer -- bless his skinny frame -- is the same pace as Cook.

I'd also have a look at the tape. I thought Solomon set up two goals with fantastic kicks into the forward line -- one of our major weaknesses.

And Kiwi Campbell played his fourth game. I loved the pack he crashed, the ball spilled and we kicked a goal. I think they've given Campbell a role where he shadows Pavlich. They can't zone off Campbell oherwise Campbell can take the mark. And he provides a very big body to block for Pav.

When the Dockers win they have a play on at all costs attitude when they mark the ball (kick or run). The current attitude is to mark the ball and stop, be careful not to make a mistake and wait for a forward to get out in the open. The waiting means that the other team has time to flood back. Pav and Tarrant are then forced to mark against 2 or 3 opponents each.

If they play-on every time and the forwards know it then they will be ready to lead into open space before the flood takes over.

Most of the teams above them in the standings have less talent but play-on constantly and are rewarded with goals because they are kicking into an open forward line.

When people say the Dockers are slow it's not their leg speed but their decision making.

Solomon is hardly repsonsible. 13 tackles is fantastic and he's playing a role. In my book, Walker (who ive been backing since an intraclub match) needs to be dropped. He's a fast player, but look at his performance.

You're looking a little daft with this thread.
