Now, I'm not normally one to divulge in any of this sort of stuff, but because the source was so good, I couldn't pass up sharing some insights. I won't be revealing the source, but I had a good, half hour chat today with the mother of an ex-Demon player who left during this millenium. I won't reveal who, so don't bother asking.
But I just chatted to her about the club (she's still a one eyed Demon), and she revealed to me that alot of player retirements, and players leaving the club, have been down to one man:
Neale Daniher. Now, I won't divulge the information as such, because I don't feel comfortable, but apparently behind the scenes the guy is a bit of an a**hole, and alot of players didn't like him at all. They were some big name players too, one of whom ended up leaving because of him, and heading back to WA.
But I think it asks the question - do we keep the man on? Does he have enough respect with the playing group or not?
Believe me if you want, I'm not terribly fussed here, but I have no reason to make this up, and neither does the lady I spoke too (her son, she says, left on actual good terms).
What do you guys think? Surprised? Shocked? Already knew? It's an interesting thought, none the less.
