Something MUST be done

Last night in the chat room we were subjected to the utterances of an idiot using the nickname of Jub Jub Jub.

In itself this is no real big deal, the regulars know how to deal with idiots, what was most disturbing though was the appearance of a new person using the name of Hawks Fan (or something similar), this newbie stayed for approximately 3 minutes, leaving with the words "this chat room aint my scene"

The newbie was subjected to a torrent of foul-mouthed abuse from this Jub Jub Jub character, which naturally resulted in the newbie's departure.

My problem with this is will this new person ever bother to return to BigFooty and provide contributions? I doubt it!
BigFooty NEEDS new contributers, continually, to maintain the freshness, and appeal that diversity of opinion offers.

So what do we do about it?
Make it registered posters only?
Make the chatroom password protected?
The answer, unfortunately, is probably yes

I don't go in to chat all that often, but the last couple of times I've been in, a couple of idiots (or maybe one using different names) kept making the whole page continually scroll without any actual message. They were also sending annoying private messages. Thankfully, some of the regulars told me how to ignore....

Chris if you stayed last night, it was propably the worse ever, these were the following nicknames the idiot used :

ME,MAGS,BEAUSGIRL,DAN24,BLUEY,RF#1 and a few others.

He would speak normally so it sounded like it was them, then he would start speakin dirty and stuff.

Anyway half the people left coz of this, and there seems that nothing is being done about it

Well i hate to say it but my suspicions are its a collingwood supporter and it must be one related to our group who else knows anything about what my niece looks like.
If it is a collingwood supporter i can only hang my head in shame and apologise.

Kaz - check the date of the posts. The incident using your name mentioned is the one from months ago, when someone was registering same nicknames in Bigsoccer, then using the door between bigsoocer and bigfooty to enter the chatroom and impersonate people.

how about we just get rid of chat alltogether and keep BF as a Bulletin Board only service ?

I never use it, so don't know what happens in there, but it seems to me that chat creates huge problems for the whole site.

Nah, I think chat is a good way to get to know people on a more personal level. I think that if it is used correctly, it is a vital asset to to BF site!!

Reminds me of a chat story...

I went in there once and after a few minutes fell asleep!
Nothing to do with the people in there, (there were some good contributors in there at the time) I had just had a big day at work....if you know what I mean.

Anyway, woke up 8 hours later, still logged into chat!

(BTW, apologies to anyone else who was in there at the time who may have been directing conversation towards me, I wasn't ignoring you, I was in moo moo land!)

Both are hallucinogens Grendel me old china, the Adelaide water is just a lot chunkier that my malt scotch.

So when consuming Adelaide water you are eating and drinking at the same time, saves time and effort, lol

I think I'll play safe and drink a whole lot of different type of alcohols that I have here. , all while I watch that stinker of a movie by Edward D Wood Jr. -- Glen or Glenda, the very worst movie ever made, it's amazing what alcohol does to that movie, lol
