I don't remember much of him, but my Dad always believed Roger Merrett was this type......reckoned he always hit/sniped on smaller blokes, but never manned up to someone his own size.

Ricky Mott, Ballerina masquerading as a footballer.

Easily the best example.

The guy was built like a bodybuilder/professional wrestler (especially when you add the sleeve tatts he got later), and was usually listed at around 100kg, yet I can never recall all that muscle having any purpose in his game. You'd think he would have bullied smaller forwards with his size, and have been a bit of a prototype of the Easton Wood intercept mark kind of guy, but he just seemed to be your standard seagull half-back. Never tackled, and can barely recall him really doing anything in one-on-ones TBH. He was probably carrying a good 20kg of useless show-off muscle. That along with his shaved head, tuff stickers, and general "I'm hard" demeanour, he looked like a wannabe tough guy f**kwit.

Meanwhile, the Cats would have Andrew Mackie, who looks like he's never seen a weight room in his life, built like Jane, playing like Tarzan and manning up Buddy Franklin one-on-one during Cats-Hawks games.
It served one purpose, his massive quads meant he had a bloody huge kick. Sent many a kick out into the middle.

He did have 2 times in his career where he pulled out of a contest, but apart from that I wouldn't call him a soft player. Just got tarnished from those 2 incidents. Mackie was much softer but with his build who can blame him.

To go with the other thread of players built like Tarzan but play like Jane.

This is for the skinny, small or/and undersized players who have graced the football field and never let their size effect their influence.

There's alot more of these than you can name.

One that stands out for me is Byron Pickett - wasn't quite Jane in body size, but compared to the prototype 190cm, 90kg footballer, he'd pass.

Would knock players on their asses as if they've been hit by a bloody 2 tonne train.

Who else was there?
