Canas is certainly looking the goods, was always a quality player though.

Great grit and determination from Murray :thumbsu:

Will now play Andy Roddick for about the 3rd time in a month

I couldn't believe how hard Cañas was trying. His physical exertion, I've never seen a player try that hard, twisting his body with brute force when the ball was hit behind him.

Beating the top incarnation of Federer in two consecutive tournaments. Congratulations Willy Cañas, you just entered folklore.

if canas keeps playing like this a top 10 world ranking spot is in his reach

Great match - whatever you say about Canas's style of tennis - my respect goes out to him.

Exactly right, kudos to Canas, the guy is a legend. Gave his all really. Federer was actually playing pretty good solid tennis out there, had 60 winners and 30 forced errors

Small win here, took canas just before he broke in 1st set

I've never seen Rafa play like this. Usually he sacrifices power for depth and vice-versa but he is just hitting ridiculously fast, deep balls that are ripping off the court (and literally tearing the cover off one of the balls). After Chela QF at IW something clicked in his head.

If he continues to play like this no-one will stop him.

Well done Rafa.

Good experience for JMDP, he showed glimpses of the Top 5 player I believe he will be. He needs to improve his footwork and his serve. Rafa and del Potro are going to have some epics in 2-3 years time.

Too many ppl think hes god
"best player ever" ha what a joke

I think there was this mentality on tour where everyone thought 'he is unbeatable' and just about every player 'choked' when they had him on the frying pan.

Canas obviously back and fresh has 'nothing to lose attitude' Which is refreshing to see.

first set was a little tentative by second set was almost back to 90% full flow...playing beautiful tennis but when he got closer to winning canas fought so hard can say he prob deserve some luck...

but seriously nothing wrong from fed...took a long rest and needs some time to go into full swing again...if he had won yesterday i would have backed him for the title...

No more nervous Nole from IW Final. This is the real Djokovic, his shot making, reflexes and court coverage are exceptional.

Nadal will have to improve to the level he was at last night.

Andy vs Novak in Semi.

Should be a very very good match between the best 2 youngsters on tour.

(Total Power, for some strange reason I do not class Nadal as a youngster, maybe for the fact he has been around for a while)
