Ok, so I'm trolling a little here :D

But Watson looks to be out of the first test against NZ, and Marsh is injured. Katich is out of favour (and form). There's not a lot of options. Liam Davis is topping the Shield runs but as good a season as he is having, he's nowhere near Test level. Second on the list is Voges who is injured.

So I take a look at the top run scorers in the domestic one dayers, and sure enough there's Hodgey. Having another cracking season.

For just a match or two, why wouldn't you give the poor bastard a shot? We even have a new suite of selectors who might consider reviewing his "never to be selected" status ;)

Get over it......he's done.
God forbid David Warner gets a test match, but the selectors have signalled their intentions so this seems most likely IMHO.
The other opening option maybe Hussey. Then we are looking for a middle order batsman. Maybe George Bailey or Moses Henriques batting at 6. Perhaps Matthew Wade could come in as a batsman........??
But Warner would be favourite at the moment.

You have got to be taking the piss, the guy has never even scored a century and averages under 30 in first class cricket
