I know his kicks are slow up and unders, he's always been like that,, but somebody tell me what did he do, Nate Brown we need you

He's really just not that good

His offensive game is woeful, he's a liability with ball in hand... very one-dimensional, can only play on gorilla tall forwards and doesn't even shut them down that well nowadays.

Smacked in the West Coast and sent to the reserves and replaced with Frost who was probably doing a better job than him up until two weeks ago.

Exactly if he wants to be like Presti he needs to stop forwards from kicking goals or he just becomes a useless pick of 18.

Yes he was smacked in the west coast game but if you did watch the game in that first half and defending was atrocious the amount of times it was kicked to Kennedy with ease on the lead or one out. I can guarantee you with kennedys height and strength with the ball coming in one on one especially how it was that game there would be no defender in the Como that would stop him. There was no help from any defenders or midfielders as they ran it in like a training drill.

That's because our game plan gets picked apart regularly. Brown would be a lot better under another coach & game plan.

Ridiculous. He should be one f the first picked week in, week out, yet instead we go for the idiot that would be lucky to make a VFL list in Frost instead.

The trouble the big lumbering key backs and forwards have both got at the moment is that the game has changed so much. Now that everyone is playing press and zone football and concertina-ring up the ground, they have become somewhat obsolete and its really only the elite, athletic, fast KP's that are doing well.

Second best tall defender on our list by so far 3rd place is not in sight. The game hasn't changed that much that Brown is a liability the list has changed so much that the back are under way more pressure than hey should be. Brown would be as useful as Frawley if he played for Hawthorn and Frawley would be canned like Brown if he played at Collingwood.

Brown is a classic full back. My concern in the modern game is there is not really room for a full back anymore as there are not really many traditional full forwards in existence. Brown is a great match up for a number of forwards - like Hawkins, but these type of forwards are dwindling in number. You could say the same for Cloke, he is an example of the kind of forward that is becoming rarer in the modern game.

Brown is still a very good player, but the way the game is being played has changed. I think there is still room on the list for him, but maybe not all of Frost, Keefe & Brown.

Brown struggles with mobile forwards who can turn him around. There is next to no stay at home bulls in teams anymore - they are his specialty and teams used to always have one. Now they are mobile athletes or ruck/forwards. I think we are just struggling to find a match up for him.

Frost is more athletic and covers a lot more ground. He is not a better player, but his attributes means he has better match ups more often.

Keefe is going to be ideal for the tall timber that is more & more common. Not a better player than Brown, just has the physical attributes.

Versatility is also a key thing these days - drummed out by all the Hawks players as a pre-requisite in their side. All players need to be multi positional otherwise you reduce your chances of a game. I see Jesse White as one who has added a string to his bow and showed he can play back. Not a better player than Brown, but will probably be selected ahead of him on versatility basis.

It is a tough one as Brown is an excellent defender.

Not sure on why dropped (probably form) but making sure you realise he got injured in VFL and missed 3 weeks of football (1 the VFL bye when I don't know if he was right to play or not) and has now had two weeks back so given our current seniors form don't think NB will be far away.

Shuts down his opponent better than Frost
Better disposer than Frost
Surer hands than Frost
Smarter defender than Frost

You'll have to try again and justify to me why Frost is in the team and Brown isn't.

At the time he was dropped, I think it was because Frost was trying and Brown visibly wasn't.

Bullshit. I say in a pocket that day and time and time again Brown would be battling in the contest only for our smalls (particularly Langdon) to sit there and watch and offer no assistance whatsoever. The only one that gave him a chop out was Sinclair.

The guy was beaten by the best forward in the competition, and quite badly, but he got nothing from our other defenders. No other team would've been so poor in support.

Brown has more big name scalps than anyone on our list, no idea why he isnt player. When hes named it makes our team visibly look better and i can always rely on him to shut down a player.

Ohhh, pleaase. Brown is one of the slowest moving, slow to react, poorest kicking and worst decision makers on the list. Tout court. And the game has changed plenty. 196 cm is not big now, it's on the small side.

Brown was a good ordinary player 5 years ago, today he's just ordinary. No closing speed, no intercept mark, no height, loop kicks, bad decision making, endless injuries. Frost is already a better player than him right now.
