Keep in mind the blues still have a first rounder from the crows on its way next year as well. These guys could all be in the 22 at some stage next season :

............ ........... ..........
Plowman .......... .........
O’Brien Kennedy Garlett
........... McGovern ........
........... ............. .........
Philips Stocker ..............

Hahahaha

Couple key injuries and you blokes are cooked harder than you already are

Stupid troll hits the point. Kind of.

About this time last year I posted that Carlton were ready to give some cheek IF Murphy, Docherty, Kreuzer and Cripps stayed upright. If not, it would be ugly.

One missed the whole season and two more missed around half of it. Plus two more of the best youngsters were season outs, and on average 12 players were down all year; and on average 8 of those were best 22.

Was a a wasted year as a result. Young teams trying to rise can not deal with that injury toll.

Carlton's best recruit this year was not a player. It was the genius at keeping players playing.

Injury prone! And we gave away every first round pick for ten years plus thirty billion dollars and a meat tray to get him!

#draftfail
Chief, the most stable genius,, thought you were a fake Carlololton fan. RedVest4 or Crobro have probably got an image they can post of a soothing cream for you anus

Rubbish! We gave away pick one - Guaranteed! - for some kid in a wheelchair and a small rock!

I can't see them finishing above anybody apart from maybe Gold Coast or Saints, so yeah. Strange move.
And you are whom exactly?
“Oh really, nobody, wow, yes, tell me all about your tooflags,I’m enamoured!
Footscraycray.

For Carlton to move up the ladder, they actually have to win more than two games. And I don't see that happening. Their list is horrible, they haven't improved it one iota this summer (Setterfield aside), and SOS continues to take such a proud club down a sad path.
So you actually know who is on the list?

Fasolo is one of the most bizarre recruiting decisions I have ever seen. The guy is a known cokehead and offers very little on the field.

Docherty and Setterfield are very good additions, but Kreuzer, Murphy and Simpson are one year older and the club was already overly reliant on them.

Who do you think Carlton will rise above on the ladder in 2019?
Carlton will rise. But will still be on the ladder somewhere.

How do you even rise above the ladder?

SOS just gave up a likely top 3 pick.
He may have been on top before last night but not anymore.
If you actually move up the ladder it might pay off, but that’s a massive gamble.
That's the point though: the club is backing itself.

And so it should. No more "we are young".

In 2017 Carlton traded for future picks from Adelaide, Bulldogs and Cats, all of whom dropped down the ladder considerably in 2018.

This trade is banking on Adelaide being outside the top 4 though missing finals is also a possibility.

We’ll most likely trade our 1st and 2nd for Taranto anyways.
And we’ll beat you in round 1 next year and you’ll cry like bob hawke when talking about his junkie daughter and I’ll laugh at you and poke you with a stick, stand by me style!

If Carlton are going to be as bad as everyone thinks, then no one will have a problem with them gaining priority picks, so dont you all come out sooking about it if in fact it happens

If Carlton are as good as Carlton fans think and Bolton and Silvagni are as good in their roles as Carlton thinks then Carlton will NEVER need a priority pick again. So don't all you Carlton fans come out sooking about it if in fact it doesn't happen.

If Essendon are as good as you think, and you keep blitzing Trade Period AND the Draft every year like you blokes say you do - year after year. Why is it that the only time you have improved in the last 15 years was by being drug cheats?

And why can't you beat Carlton?

You do realise that Adelaide now have both of your first and second draft picks next year. You have Adelaide first pick next year and no second now. You might have to sacrifice more future picks if you're going to try and lure another midfielder out of GWS

But you have low morale and we have green shoots.
Where is this low morale that you speak of hiding? No evidence of anywhere, well, except in the minds of braindead journo's on slow news days

Funny how all the flogs in West Warrigul lap that shit up like a refugee offered a 5 star meal

It isn't hiding, it's in plain sight.

Evidenced by - what was it - a crash of 10 ladder places in a year? Not to mention the ongoing exodus of players.

Get me the **** out of Adelaide Football Club. The sound track of October.

18 players re-signed with Adelaide this year. 1 talented, injury prone, flakey flog who's in a bizarre relationship with an assistant coach left. Not much care going on here.

McGovern is so flakey his latest faux pas in the media was claiming to leave Adelaide for success. So he chooses the wooden spooners. Also claimed missing a guernsey in the GF hurt, yet somehow seems to have conveniently forgotten that he couldn't pass a fitness test let alone train with the main group 2 days earlier. Also had a massive sook after being told a few home truths about his attitude to diet and training by the senior coach.

Good luck (keeping him out of KFC) :thumbsu:

Adeliade is definatly getting a top 10 pick next year. But in football its laughable to suggest they are getting pick one or two based on this years performance for the blues... yeh we were shit this year.. but the big picture and our list dynamics and structure and age is so good i believe we will make the enevitable jump up the ladder next year
Its laughable? General consensus including betting odds have carlton bottom 2-3.

Do you believe Carlton will finish above Adelaide in 2019?

Probably not. The wheelchair brigade will likely carry you to 8-9 wins against low ranked sides. I'd put us at 6-8.

You're still completely **** ed though. Oldest list in football, nowhere near contending.

The very worst place to be.

There are plenty of other threads to discuss Essendon and their prospects, this thread is not about that.
Also since you decided to quote me, why didn't you come out in confident support that you wouldn't need a priority pick? Or is it that you're not particularly confident in Carlton's staff or prospects? I couldn't blame you there, I mean Bolts is struggling to get to that 25% win rate.

Who are you referring to?

I asked about Adelaide, not the Giants.

In any case, I'm surprised you think we will slide that far. Shiel is quite a big loss, but I think Taranto moving on ball will cover him well. Lobb battled well despite his rib injury but Matt Flynn is almost ready to take over and is very dynamic around the ground. We don't have the oldest list in the competition either. I suggest you check your facts on that one :thumbsu:
