Did a bit of wrestling - did it better than everyone else - he was a gun. That's it.

I've never seen a completely fair player. Need more options. Certainly the best full back ever along with Fletcher!

Strange comment. Yesterday you said to me that both Southby and Dench were better full backs than SOS.

For mine, not the best ever but a champion player none the less. And yes, he was a wrestler. Should have been charged with rape he violated the forwards that much.:D

with lockett, dunstall and ablett to contend with he had to try every trick in the book be it fair or illegal by todays standards or interpretations of the rules as some may see them. its obvious the afl is changing the rules for backmen to get higher scoreing games.

Carrol is a liability to the Melbourne team, and the club as a whole infact. I would rather play with only 17 on the field than have Carrol in the goal square.

He is as useless as t1ts on a bull....

I'll stick with SOS thanks

Carrol was a top 3 full back last season.

Carroll had a pretty amazing year for a hack (and he is not much more than a hack)

I've said it before, I'll say it again, SOS used his body and his arms in such ways that limited his opponents strengths, and playing in an era of monster forwards (Lockett, Dunstall, etc) he needed to. To say he got away with murder is just plain stupid, there were as many cameras back then as there are now, and if the umpires didnt say or pay anything, commentators didnt say anything, the AFL didnt say anything, its safe to say that SOS was just a brilliant full-back in an era of champions.
