Levi Dudley is rapidly establishing himself as a standout in the SANFL U16 ranks, turning heads as an underaged player for Central Districts in 2025. Proudly connected to the renowned Dudley & Pickett family, whose stellar AFL display continues to inspire across all levels of the game, Levi brings that same spark and flair every time he steps onto the field. With an undeniable “X-Factor,” he’s a player that ignites contests and produces moments that can shift momentum in an instant.

Even as one of the youngest in his team, Dudley has featured in all 12 matches this season, consistently having a tangible impact—especially when it counts up forward. He’s registered 9 goals for the year, highlighted by a dynamic three-goal performance in Round 4 against South Adelaide and an impressive two-goal burst in Round 8 against Norwood. His scoreboard presence spans over eight different rounds, reflecting not only his sharp goal sense but also his ability to find opportunities inside 50, beat opponents on the lead, and finish with poise. Whether it’s his agility at ground level, clean hands in the air, or willingness to challenge bigger defenders, Dudley stands out as a reliable target and a calming influence under pressure.

Levi’s rise through the Bulldogs’ junior system was evident last year in the U14s, where he tallied 10 goals across five games, quickly earning recognition as a player of note. In 2025, he’s taken his development up a gear—showing not just the physical readiness to compete with older boys, but often eclipsing them with superior football intelligence and sound decision-making. His durability is underscored by not missing a match for a Centrals team sitting atop the ladder, while his versatility across the forward half and consistent scoreboard impact haven’t gone unnoticed by SANFL talent judges. Dudley’s upward trajectory positions him as a foundational figure in Central Districts’ future and a genuine AFL draft prospect in the making.

Questions remain around his commitment to the U15 State Team, with many confident he would have comfortably featured in the best 22; the reasons behind his omission from the final squad are uncertain. Regardless, Levi Dudley is a player with a special pedigree, impressive performances, and the all-round game to suggest he’s one to follow closely in seasons to come.

Thought it was important to shine a light on the immense talent we have down here

Zane Rooney and Jacob Westley are two of South Australia's standout junior footballers, both selected as bottom-age players in the 2025 U16 State Team. Who will now turn their heads to the U15 carnival, looking to help lead SA back to the podium after a poor finish from last years stacked lineup.

Rooney has been consistently impressive across SANFL and representative levels. As one of only two bottom-age players in SA's U16 squad for the 2025 AFL National Championships, he made a strong impact—particularly with his calm ball use and ability to set up play from half-back.

In key games against Victoria Metro and Victoria Country, he was named among South Australia’s best performers, showing maturity beyond his years. Rooney has been recognised for having strong leadership potential and ability, rewarded as the Glenelg U16 Captain as an underage player. Rooney also contributed at U15 level in the SANFL Intrastate Championships for Glenelg. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rooney climbs to the No. 1 prospect of this crop by September.

Jacob Westley has had a rapid rise in 2025, earning late selection into SA's U16 State Team following strong form in Sturt’s U16 side. He recorded standout performances, including a 21-disposal game, leading to his addition as a bottom-age player.

Wesley, who’s huge tank and running capabilities have separated him from opponents as someone who you can rely on to give you a 4 quarter effort. Unfortunately Westley didn’t get to play in this years champs, however no doubt he will be a key contributor in 2026

It would be rude to forget the current No. 1 prospect Harrison Webb. Webb who was snubbed of U16 State representation due to an ankle injury, would have most likely also put the croweaters colours on twice. Webb has already been apart of the U15 Carnvial playing in 2024 and will be looking to stamp his authority in 2025 as to why he is so highly sought after in his class. Webb had a classy return in his second week with 22 disposals 3 goals and 119 ranking points (match high).

Looking forward to watching these lads show their stuff, especially against their own age group next week!

Certainly agree these 3 are the top players in this age group

I reckon Webb is going to have a massive carnival after his game last week

SA are chocked full of talent this year for sure. They have been in the past, and have underperformed. So will be interesting to see how they go this year.

Plenty of boys who will be representing SA for the first time. Who have been competitive at the SANFL U16’s level as underage talent.

Harry Hobby is one whose name has been circulating the scouting community. I’ve touched on him before, as many clubs are interested to see how he will take his game in the coming years. A hard runner, high footy IQ, a good finisher. Just lacks a bit of finesse at the stoppage. But nothing abnormal to his counterparts across the country. A skill that definitely develops with experience.

Looking forward to this campaign, plenty of names to look for. I’ve only mentioned a few!

This thread was needed, considered many times starting it myself but never seem to have free time these days.

If Webb didn't get injured he'd have been the standout player at his age group, but certainly a nice performance for him last week. Cardijn are a strong footy school down south (my local). There's a lad at my sons school (still primary) that is unbelievable for his age and no doubt will be on this list in a few years. You can see the really good ones very early on.

2031?
2032?
2033?

As for the early's, Steele Sidebottom, Daniel Talia and Jack Ziebell were in Victoria's U12 squad in 2003 while Cyril Rioli represented NT in 2001.

I feel like Shaun Burgoyne would've been the sort who'd appear on SA's radars in 1994.

Craig Bradley may've done likewise in 1975. (Cricket. Footy. Don't matter with Braddles.)

Craft of the drafts 16s players to watch

Mentioned Harvey Chapman, Hugo Semmler, Zemes Pilot in the top players from the championships for SA

A guy I want to mention who I feel like deserves some credit is Kai Ivins. Had 27 and 3 against Vic country and dominated arguably being BOG. As well as that he had 20 and a goal in an 8 goal lost holding his own showing great speed breaking away from stoppage. He averages 24, 5 marks, 3 tackles and 90 ranking points for Norwood U/16 hitting the scoreboard regularly.

One to certainly watch moving forward

Yea Ivins strangely gets overlooked often. He's got Sid Draper like movement around the stoppage at times. Garrett as well, performs consistently to a pretty high level. It's a good crop that year but for some reason didn't gel as a team at the champs (second game was a might fine effort mind you).

Traditionally, SA do better at Under 16's than Under 18's but I think this crop can improve on that showing when their turn comes in a couple of years.

Agree 2028 has a good bunch all playing SANFL U/16's in the state team.

Yep.

Webb.
Rooney.
Hobby.
Gallagher.
The Parma.
Langeluddecke.

Probably missing a few.

Not sure if Doan is worth keeping tabs on or not.
