Does anyone on this board have a good recommendation for speakers. Say I'm willing to pay no more that 1k?

i have Q acoustics at home which i found to be good value for money.

u pretty much get what you pay for... except with bose.

check out a specialised hifi shop for some opinions from people in the know (ie not jbs).

What brand and type of amp have you got? What power rating? What’s your primary source? Are you into vinyl? Do you want book shelf or floor standing? But don’t go for Bose. Their lifestyle stuff is good, but gimmicky.

What's the Amp - model/brand?

DynAudio make awesome speakers, and they'd be what I'd get without a second though, but they need a fair bit of power to drive them.

Bose, for the most part, is absolute shit.

Q Accoustics are pretty good value for money, but with your budget, go for Dyns.

I got mine for $800 (but I bought 2 pairs), so bust their chops on price.

They're $800 - but those websites are prolly out of date, you might need to hunt around a bit, but it's worth it.

And according to them, they were $1,499 retail, so even better.

All comes down to experience. My Bose 501 bookshelf speakers are still going strong. And i didn't have to spend as much as you. Sound Advice-people in the know.Bulletproof

I have the Dynaudio powered monitors bm5as and the bm9s sub.
