Cars & Transportation Speeding Fines

Hi guys,

I know that I'll cop a bit from the replies about this one, and I'll wear that. I messed up.

Over Labour Day weekend 3 speed cameras caught me speeding within 17 minutes.

I accept full responsibilty and have no qualms about being fined and losing points - however, I'd like to greatly reduce these fines as it's quite excessive.

What is the best method of battling these charges?

I'm hoping I can pay just one fine, and perhaps lose all of the points, or half of the points.

Three speeding offences at double demerits? Sounds like you should be worried about losing your licence rather than the cost of the fines.

Not sure what it's like in Victoria but in NSW they are fairly sympathetic to people requiring payment plans for big fines. I doubt you'll get out of paying them though.

ah if you were in Victoria and had a good record you can request a warning. 3 in 17 minutes. Not a chance and by the way your talking it's a 9 point wam.

the good news is riding your bike for 3 months will save you wonders on petrol.

I did this- was lucky enough tho to speak to a neighbours friend, who works for the Police and told me about this. Otherwise I would have never known and just copped the fine. (7km over in 60 zone- driven for over 8 years with no offence)... so yeah I was lucky.

Doubt you could get off 3 tho!!!! Maybe if it was the same road/fwy perhaps???

This can probably be confirmed/corrected by more legally astute types (caesar et al.), but I seem to remember hearing a while back about a guy who got off 2/3 speeding fines (or something similar) because he was able to prove he was consistently going over the speed limit and commited only one offence.
Apparently you can't be charged multiple times for committing a singular offence (no idea if this is true) and he was able to reduce it to one fine.

P.s. I heard this on some mainstream media outlet so you can just about be assured that there are at least 5 or 6 things which are just point blank wrong but were reported as fact anyway.

this is exactly like me, 8 years without a fine, but got caught 8km over. Sending the letter out today.

Ummmm 3 speed camera in 17 minutes = 1 loss of licence. You're stuffed. Good luck with that.

I've always wondered whether you can get fined multiple times in a short distance/ period of time. I had a lucky escape going in to the footy last weekend. I was sitting on 120 on the South Gippy highway. When I came around the bend there was a copper sitting there. Fortunately he had already pulled someone over or else otherwise I was a goner.
