As I posted earlier in the week - Kingsley was always going to miss this week (my source at the club told me Sunday night he was out).

You'll have to trust me on the following : Spencer is set to play tomorrow as Egan is rated 50/50 by the club medico's due to shoulder problems. Egan will be tested at Skilled early on Saturday morning but if he plays it will be against medical advice that he is 1-2 weeks off being fit.

As for Ottens : coaching staff only need him 50% of game time in the ruck. When Bomber said it will be "a game of the future" he really meant it. My mail is that Geelong is set to throw a few "surprises" in the centre bounces by conceding the centre bounce and having his players play to Street and close one on one match ups at stoppages. Don't be surprised if Ottens hardly moves from the goalsquare.

So which one is it?

This may sound cruel, but Egan MUST play tomorrow. I don't care if his shoulder is hanging off by a thread, with Scarlett and Harley out we cannot afford to lose him as well. Sometimes in sport you just have to suck it up and guts it out. His team needs him. I'm hoping he'll con the medicos and play anyway. Knowing Matty Egan so far he'll probably produce the goods.

thats quite an interesting tactic, but if no one contests the ruck its would enable skip/street to just thump the ball 50m toward our forward line wouldnt it? dont think thats very wise myself but we'll see, could work who knows

I wouldn't risk him. I want him at the end of the season when it counts, not so that I can have bragging rights over the bulldogs.

Let him rest. This is exactly how we screwed up Harley and his leg. You have to give the players time to recover or else down the track they fall in a heap

And I still say that if Ottens plays 50% of the matchi n the ruck it'll be the last game he plays for 6 weeks.

Watch about halfway through the first quarter last week.I don't think it would've taken a genius to realise he wouldn't play this week due to the hammy.

Interesting point about conceding the bounce. From what I could see on Fox Footy, the Hawks smashed the Cats at the centre square, with Everitt and Campbell dominating the hitouts. Why wouldn't Bomber want a bloke who can at least give a contest, especially since they up against Peter Street, not the best ruckman in the AFL? Conceding the bounce would seem to allow Street the opportunity to direct the tap to the advantage of the Dogs' midfielders.

We need a team full of Jim's:

First the season now six weeks? How are you justifying this? You make it sound like his spinal cord is about to snap. Do you really think if he was so underdone he would be playing at all.

I think he has been in cotton wool for 6 weeks longer than he would have been last week. I know the rigours of AFL can take its toll, but you make it sound like he is a race horse about to break down because he has been overworked. He will probably play ruck for 40mins. 10 mins a quarter. If this is too much for the big man, then he shouldn't be playing at all!

I think they'd be crazy to not provide a proper contest at the ruck. If Streety gets it in the direction of any of the dogs midfielders, then that's it. They're so quick they'll have it down in their forward line in no time, probably in the hands of somebody like Johnno or Murphy who will kick a goal. We may as well call the game over before it's begun in that case.

I vaguely remember a defender called Hurley or something like that

Yeah the club keep saying that he's got a hip injury but I think you'll find thats he has actually grown his hair long, put on about 60kgs and was actually in a plane crash and is now LOST on a remote pacific island.

I think that's the Hurley your talking about anyway.:D

That's a damn fine advantage for us if they hit it our way. But I remember Street rucking for us, and the ball aint going 50m even if Monty Burns rucks against him.
