1. The Green Goblin
2. Sand Man
3. Scorpion
4. Dr Octopus.

5. (and another big fat gangster type guy, whose name escapes me)

Those are his 5 arch villians.

I would say that spideys arch villians are/ were

Green Goblin (there ended up being 3 of them)
Venom
Carnage
Hobgoblin

--------------

Other villians were:
Rhino
Electro
Shocker
Chameleon
Hammerhead
Hydra
Puma
Kraven the Hunter
Boomerang
The Beetle

Pfft... where is the Gibbon? Or the tinkerer??? or Mindworm??? :p
;)

Btw Spideys true nemisis is JJJ. Said so by Stan 'the man' Lee himself so 'nuff said'!

For super powered villians, hmmm. I'd go Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Venom, the Clone Spiderman, HobGoblin.

Kingpin became DareDevils numero uno bad guy (was better suited to going up against DD too).

Speaking of DareDevil theres talk that Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith may be doing a DD movie! :D I actually reckon Affleck would be a pretty good Matt Murdock (DareDevil).

Liked the movie. Bit soppy at times, but you get that! Would've loved to see Kirsten Dunst killed or mamed, but eh, whatcha gonna do?

Did anyone else notice Stan Lee? When the goblin shoots the balcony (and Spider-man must once again save the annoying twit of a female) you get a shot of him, and then it flicks to SMan and then back to Stan dragging a little girl out of the way. Did anyone else pick up on that? Was very quick.

I vote for the next movie to have Venom. I like venom! :)

yeah i think that movie is already in production now..... well thats the impression i got from www.superherohype.com I'm really looking forward to this one to, he's got a similar style to spidey but a lot darker. Sort of Marvels answer to Batman, should be good.

Thanks for the link SonsOfScray.

Yeah, old hornhead is my personal favourite out of the Marvel super-heroes. Smith did a run on the title that looked promising a while back (though he did kill off Karen which I wasnt happy about). The preview shots looked very 'Hells Kitchen' Im now hanging out for the movie!! Dont like the 'Alias' girl playing Elektra though. :(

But yea great link, some good news (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Connery perfect for Quartermain) some TERRIBLE news (Nic Cage as Constantine!!!! NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!) :( :( :(

i was atually just going through a few old titles from my collection the other day and i came across a ff4 from early 1995 and in the editorial section (stans soapbox) Stan the Man Lee said that Marvel had earmarked 'The Silver Surfer' 'Venom' and 'Ghost Rider' for the transition to the big screen. These projects were pretty much killed off but one would imagine that the success of Spidey, Xmen and the iminant success of Hulk we will see a lot more of our favourite characters coming to the big screen.

what a grand age we live in............

According to the website CountingDown.com (pretty handy for info on upcoming movies) Superman Lives! is in it's very early stage with Brendan Fraser leading the race to play Superman; Ghost Rider is also in it's early stage with Nicolas Cage beating Eric Bana to win the lead role; and Daredevil is in production with a cast of Ben Affleck, Colin Farrel, Michael Clarke Duncan and Jennifer Garner. There's also another Batman film in development titled Batman: Year One.
Don't know if there is any other comic books being turned into movies cause i don't read them myself, you might wanna have a look for yourself.

PS. Apparently the two villians in Spider-Man 2 will be Dr. Octopus and the Lizard, thoughts?

A little about Spider-Man 2 already slated for release on May 7, 2004:

From MTV.com:

Hot on the heels of a record breaking $114 million dollar opening weekend (see " 'Spider-Man' Breaks Box-Office Record"), Columbia Pictures has announced a release date for "Spider-Man 2": May 7, 2004. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and director Sam Raimi are all back on board. As for the plot, nothing official has been announced, though the first film does offer many clues with which one can make some educated guesses.

In the comic books, Norman Osborn's son Harry (played in the film by James Franco) becomes a second Green Goblin, which is hinted at in one of the movie's closing moments. In an earlier scene, Peter Parker mentions a "Dr. Connors," which fans recognize as Dr. Curtis Connors, a.k.a. Spidey nemesis the Lizard. "Eddie" is also name checked in a scene at the Daily Bugle. In Marvel lore, Bugle photographer Eddie Brock becomes brain-eating Spidey villain Venom. A young woman who looks suspiciously like diamond thief/ Spider-Man love interest the Black Cat is also visible in the flick, all webbed up after stealing, well, some diamonds. Early drafts of the first film's script were rumored to include Dr. Octopus, who may likely show up in "Spider-Man 2" as well.

The folks at Columbia are staying tight-lipped about "Spider-Man 2," offering only that they are "excited" (duh!) to be involved with a second Spidey feature.

Doc Ock might be (according to the www.superherohype.com rumour) played by Sam Neill. I reckon that he would be pretty good casting. The Lizard was really a 2nd tier villain, he was okay but hardly memorable (well not to me anyway). ;) Personally I would like to see Morbius the Vampire with a twist (stick to it being a scientific vampire curse rather than a supernatural one).

Re the proposed movies. Marvel was planning this sort of stuff in the mid-seventies with Dr.Strange (was a one off TV movie) the Hulk (became the TV show) and I think from memory a Nick Fury and Black Panther shows (that I never heard about again). Now that technology has caught up to the ideas (see the Captain America... on second thought, DON'T see the Captain America movie for how bad it used to be) of the books, IF they put enough thought into it most screen transitions should be good. Well for fanboys like us anyway! :D

If the Batman year one rumour is true I wonder if they will be sticking to the Miller story? Would be great if they let Frank Miller do the screenplay for it, think I am dreaming there! :(

Its all very exciting isnt it with all these comic to film adaptations...im looking forward to X-Men 2 and Daredevil with Affleck and Garner. Also Hulk should rock, Bana is good casting, they resisted the urge of going for a huge hollywood actor. Dont know about Fraser as Superman, i cant see him or Cage as Superman.

Official Catwoman movie coming to theaters too? Dont know how they will work this one as we are supposed to go for the superheroes but Catwoman is kind of a villain. Plus the casting of Ashley Judd is just wrong, why not give it to the original actress who IMO IS catwoman. Michelle Pfieffer was the perfect Catwoman and she isnt too old to play the role and she is still extremely sexy....

League Of Extraordinary Gentleman sounds cool but Wonderwoman? Batman:Year 1 will need an actual writer with talent to revive the series after the shocker that was Batman and Robin. They also need a new Batman. Ask Keaton back, he was by far the best Batman, if not ask Kilmer, he wasnt bad.

Just my take on a few things..

Dr Octopus : classic spiderman villian, one of his oldest and most toughest foes. Sam Neil would be a good choice to play him IMO, just like dafoe had that goblin look Neil has the Otto look.

Lizard is an interesting choice, Dr Connors is not a villian yet his hulk like transformation is quite a menace. Having the two villians would go alright, it would let us see more action and opens up some more possibilities for however many more they make in the series.

I can't see Venom making his way into the sequel, the plot of the costumes origin is a little too complex to bring in, if they had Eddies character developed a little more I could see it happenening but no very unlikely.

Either way as long as it holds true to the original books charm and wit (like the spiderman 1 has) I will be happy.

Re: Batman - Year One, I doubt they'll bring back Keaton because I am under the impression that this focus on the origins of a young batman..........If that is the case who would you think would be a good choice to play a young bruce wayne?

Well you need someone tall dark and handsome but young? Maybe Affleck but he isnt exactly young anymore...Josh Harnett might go alright in that role, he has that square jaw thing that Batman is famous for.

If they've got any brains, they'll consult heavily with Miller. His writing in 'Year One' and 'The Dark Knight Returns' was sensational. No one has matched it.

Wouldn't hurt for the makers of Daredevil to also get Miller involved. His run in the late eighties/early nineties was some of the best.
