Will never get banned and why should it? It's just a thing that players do and so do I when I play footy, I don't mean to do it and I actually don't even know i am doing it most of the time.

Better ban coughing and sneezing. Actually breathing is one of the main modes of transport for many viruses, better ban that as well. The cotton wool treatment, particularly of kids, is an aspect of society that continues to degrade, despite scientific studies clearly showing that a clean environment is detrimental to the development of a persons immune system, people continue to push this sterile bullshit.

You honestly think the AFL will ban spitting?

Try running as hard and for as long as they do and try and not spit. Physically impossible. Garbage thread.
Get a life ! This was meant to be a dig at the AFL for outlawing so many facets of the game that we took for granted. When I heard the grandmother on the radio I thought I'd have a bit of fun......

Spitting at the ground is fine, at the end of the day it is the players who roll around in it.

Spitting at or on someone is a whole different situation however and players doing that should face bans.

Running and jumping are causing quite a few knee injuries.

I expect the rules committee to introduce a law which requires all players to wear boots which are concreted into the ground pre-game. The coaches can decide where to place the players and if the ball cannot be retrieved due to the somewhat restricted mobility of players then the umpire shall gently hand the ball over to the nearest player. The winner is the team adjudged to have displayed the most sportsman-like manners when receiving the ball from the umpire. Bonus points should a player insist that the other team should receive the ball because they don't want their feelings hurt.

Personally I can't stand spitting (in general public; no problem with it on the footy ground). Don't feel the need to spit when exercising myself, but I can understand those who do. Spitting on other players would be a whole different matter.

To minimise the risk of injury and potentially someones career the AFL should be looking to introduce mandatory personal protective equipment. For instance: shin guards, elbow guards, helmets, wrist guards and the most important the 'box'. We as a community should really get behind this idea so that our kids can play Aussie Rules safely. Although I think the initial cost of this added PPE would be a bit of a set back, it pales in comparison to the cost of a persons emotional and physical distraught from an injury.
