I can't see any advantage for the Swans playing in the second week of the split round. Sure we got a week off to prepare for the game - but so did the Pies. No advantage there
So then we have to go into the next game against a team that has had a week off to prepare/refresh. No advantage there.
Finally, the second half of the season is a game longer for us. No advantage there either.

BTW I'm not trying to use this as an excuse for getting beaten yesterday as we only played well for one 1/4 anyway.

Everybody should've just skipped the first 3 quarters and come watch the final quarter.

If there is going to be a split round, you would think it would be easy enough to design the fixture list so that in the round following it, all teams had had the same period of recovery, just to eliminate any question of whether it has an impact. If they went back to the 50/50 split between the two weekends it would be even easier to do.

3 of the 4 teams that played last week lost.

'Twas 50/50 - Saints and Pies won, Bombers and Swans lost. On form one might have expected the Bombers to lose, while our game was probably 50/50 and was decided by one point.

So despite my comment above (which I still believe in), there is little, if any, evidence that it had any impact.
