I cant see why...there's actually a synergy between the two considering Dick Smith would be one of Sony's largest customers (retailers)...makes damn good sense.to create the parallel in consumers minds..

On the way back to the kitchen after posting my comment I thought the same thing. I can see the synergies. Dick Smith probably has a brand identity at present as being a place where you can get an ultra crappy Cambodian TV called AKIK or something, for next to nothing, or the splitter thingy you need to connect phone and internet cabling. This could take them to a higher plane, and better margins.

I don;t think DS carries Sony at present, and if it does it's a very limited and shitty range of the low end tube TVS.

I was wrong. Never let it be said I am afraid to back down when I recognise my previous thought as misguided.

Hope it comes off! I actually know the girl who manages the Dick Smith marketing account so may give her a buzz
