In the footy comp, you did your money if you forgot to bet. In the spirit of the comp, I agree with that rule.

It does bring up a valid issue though. It would be could if we want to list emergencies in order of preference to cover any scratchings. That would be particularly useful for punters who put their tips in early.

But picking a horse which is scratched is very different to not betting at all. I'd be all in favour of penalising people who don't bet all of their $100 or simply don't bet at all.

What about people who for some reason can't post their tips on a Saturday, and have to put them in on a Friday before scratchings? They'll suffer a heavy penalty if a couple of their runners are scratched.

I agree that it would be good if people could nominate a couple of reserve selections in case of scratchings. That's what I get people to do in competitions I run on other forums. But it's easy when all the bets are the same size. If the bets aren't all the same size (as is the case here), it's a bit tricky to do it that way.

I had two runners scratched on Saturday and I put my tips in on Friday as I had tennis 'till about 1pm on Saturday, and by that time I was unable to swap picks as the race meeting had already started.

I was probably too harsh in making late scratchings count as losers. I will change the rule to money back. If people cant get access to a computer on a saturday morning, it is unfair to penalise them for late scratchings. sorry boys.
