Incorrect.
Correct. A fair few guys my age I know have had the same changes in views. They agree with issues like marriage between gays as an example but then disagree with other issues like matters on migration.

Yeah but the kinds of guys you know are probably like you.

How can I interrupt you on a forum?

I do read all your posts with a stutter though for some reason, I gotta admit.

Excuse me I was talking.....

There was a dude, he was a Carlton fan from memory who used to sign up, totally lose it, threaten to sue all and sundry and then get banned. I'd like to see him back, he was enormously entertaining.
Apart from that good, enjoyable boards.

He is still around .....@chief

Um I'm trying to place him.

Does that young liberal woman still post here? Her mate Alex Hawke is a full blown (useless) MP thesedays.

Please stay on topic. There are plenty of other threads for politicals discussions.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This thread isn't the place to agree or disagree with someone's point of view. We're after everyone's opinion/feedback, not a discussion on whether they are right or wrong.

Reddit has a younger userbase, young Australians are increasingly left wing/communal in their thinking.

The right wing has been in the entirety of their lives, they don't use traditional media, and weren't raised on the Herald Sun. The brainwashing hasn't stuck.

Weren't we all?

Then real life happened.

As for the board I hate/love you all.

Interesting, if a number of other personalities on bigfooty had of posted something like this, but from a right wing/conservative position, the thread likely would of been seen as 'board clutter' and been deleted/merged and the poster subject to infractions.

Middle ground moderation is what we should all be aspiring towards...this left wing domination is not what we need

Shhh don't criticise them!

Bottom line, this board is crying out for a non left wing moderator, if only to debunk the perception which currently exists that the pendulum has swung to the far left, and any manner of dissent whatsoever from the preferred ideology of the resident mods is swiftly dealt with through locks, mergers, and infractions.

According to this board now any man who raises questions about the issue of domestic violence and suggests men may also be a victim, is now labelled a member of the facist far right with likely neo nazi sympathies.

Just utter, utter garbage.

The same applies to Islam.

My basic position on the subject is essentially the same as Sam Harris and Bill Maher in the recent debate with Ben Affleck.

Would mature, educated people label either of the two aforementioned men as bigoted monsters?

Of course not, yet the likes of myself and a few others are essentially vilified as such on here for simply arguing the same sort of stuff we saw from Harris and Maher.

That is a direct result of the influence of the rabid left wing bent this boards moderation has taken in recent times.

I appeal to Chief to simply take some of this on board, because I would argue a lot of the bile and vitriol is a result of the sense many have of being unable to have there say on here.

Why are you surprised
Biased left wing mods on here are standard
Careful you upset the usual shills or you will find yourself perma'd

I would like to see some sort of infraction system for people who claim evidence/statistics to back up their arguments that do not exist. Same sort of thing that applies on the punting board for people who claim to have won money after an event and are unable to back it up.

Also, I would really like an intelligent discussion on Islam. I am sure we could have a thread on the pros and cons of catholicism, scientology or astrology, but it saddens me that we can't have one on Islam without it being used by the extreme right as a veiled attack on people based on their race.

Sam Harris is spot on in his views on religion generally and Islam specifically.

Or how about the leftists who will label people as being racists because they have differing views to them on Islam despite not proving it. Not to mention the fact firstly rthis very debate you want won't happen because it is used by the left to be a veiled attack on people being racists and full of hate and so on because of their differing views. This seems to be irrespective of how rational or how correct their comments made are.

I've been reading a great work of historical fiction by Ken Follett (Winter of the World) set in Germany, circa 1930. I'd recomend it as a great read and for its insight into HOW the Nazi's came to power despite being roundly despised by the majority of Germans. How bit by bit, they broke down a democracy through systematic elimination of all political opposition;

- many opinions simply vanished
- people of opposing opinion simply vanished
- certain topics of conversation just stopped
- leadership had no tolerence of dissenting views, turned a blind eye to atrocities committed by their dominions

People who didn't agree with the Nazi's, members of the liberal, socialist, and communist opposition were silenced (killed, imprisoned, or forced into exile). Good people increasingly refused to speak out as the thuggery grew bolder and more intimidating, and a tipping point was reached in via referendum in 1934 with Hitler declared Führer and Chancellor, the course was set on the greatest humanitarian tragedy in the history of mankind
