Hail Mary? He was in our NGA and you stole him. Fair play, but it was dirty (not by you) by the AFL.
If clubs didn't get discounts and paid market price for father sons it wouldn't matter.
It's the double dipping because of poorly considered and poorly implemented policies that is the issue.

Wilson can't even get a game.
Yeah we picked up a 2x AA for $900k pa.
You can't get a bite offering $1.7m for 1 player.
Tauru and Trav will likely be the next Coffield and Clark. Another wasted draft.
That's why we play finals and the Saints don't.

What was your club's excuse prior to free agency, FS and NGA?
100 years with 1 premiership and plenty of wooden spoons.
The simple fact is that it's easy for St Kilda to cling on to excuses as to why they are an unsuccessful club.
It's always been a poor club and it always will be.

Any reasonable person knows St Kilda has a point with what they've been saying. Jumping on the bandwagon of sensationalist media drivel clutching at straws won't change that.
Nobody that doesn't have their head up their arse thinks the current system is fair.

Despite all this, the question remains how St Kilda's situation would be any different if we did not have academies, NGA, or FS?
History suggests it wouldn't be any different.

The priority access is the benefit. The points discount is a rort.
There’s a very easy solution. Finish high on the ladder, pay a premium. Finish low on the ladder, get a discount.
As much as Gold Coast are nepo babies, once they’ve hit finals their benefits should be reigned way in by this method. Missed the boat on it happening to Brisbane.
