I challenge anyone to think of a word they use when having either some argy bargy or when having some banter with mates (whatever that word is) and see if you can never utter it again in the same situation ever again.

Just because you get punished for using it, it takes a long time to change behaviour. I used to use the word hero, if that got banned overnight i would struggle to just not use it, Some used ***@&t. Its just the latter got outlawed.

So yeah he shouldnt have used that kind of term but its hard to change. How many games you gone to and said im not gonna blame or yell at umps and them bam. It happens.

Im sure everyone on this chat says or does things they shouldnt and wish they could stop doing but cant.

If its education, cool, but you can snort coke and no one knows, you use a slur its 6+ weeks. Where is the consistency

So go easy on Lance ya heros
Shit take.

You sign up to be a professional AFL footballer, youre judged differently than anyone in this chat . Youre a role model whether you want to be or not. It comes with all the adulation and the very generous paycheck. Dont like it? Go play suburban footy

If you cant change using the kinds of slurs Lance has used and is accused of using again, thats on you. You get caught out, you suck it up and cop your whack.

Agree 100%

Im just saying its harder to change then people make out.

Of course you will be judged hard and i think its something we need to get out of the game, just questioning the hard line approach to this v recreational drug use

just think for all the things that are said and done on the field, this seems like a harder approach than to other issues and that in itself will bring a media frenzy and a lot of pressure on players.

Think that's the end of lance. Can't believe he was gifted the number 4, what a disgrace. Another failed list management strategy
Because list managers should’ve known that he’d use this slur even once, let alone, stupidly, twice 🙄

Zero tolerance on this stuff.

But there also has to be a level on understanding about the individual and their background.

Not sure Lance is the sharpest, whatever he said he might thought it was ok/what was the provocation like?
First time, maybe.
But twice? Nah.

Can someone tell me what ended up happening with Tex Wanganeen?Did he end up gaining a spot on the VFL list ?

I know he had shoulder problems .
Unknown
Ive previously mentioned that Oscar Ainsworth who is also injured was added to our Vfl list, but Tex hasnt been ?
Yes, both were train on players over the pre-season.

Got nothing to do with the slur...
Was always a flight risk, and to be fair he was a throw at the stumps. His football ability hasn't measured up to this point. Everyone lauds letting Gresham go( which I'm happy with) but you then have to make the compensation worthwhile or we are back to square one with no net gain.

Have to agree. We know we need to make every post a winner at the draft and unfortunately Lance is looking like a huge miss.

Collard, Hotton

2nd round is where teams make it or lose it.

Just another suburban pick I guess…

Naaa

Think you're going a bit easy on him. I'm not for crucifying anyone, but come on... getting this word out of your public vocab when you're representing your club should be no great challenge.

Just brain dead stuff.

It’s easy to take that stance, but in the middle of a football match, it’s not hard to see how people resort to their base level insults. Clearly he grew up saying these words.

You’re not meant to swear in public, but trip on the sidewalk and most people would inadvertently say something unsavory.

Not buying it mate.

Absolute stupidity given the world we now live in.

Saying F8ck when you stub your toe is different to this, particularly after him going through it before.

He's stupid. Really, really stupid.

edit... IF he's guilty

He's one of those people stuck back 200 years ago. Won't learn from past history.

I think there's 16 games left in the VFL season, Lancey boy might get three or four for the swinging arm, and then if it was an 'f' as opposed to an 'm' he's probably looking at another eight to ten. Back just in time for finals 🥴

People saying not to take flight risks.

Would you rather us of not taken Goddard or Nas.

nah that's not how list management works. there are zero certainties, all you can do is increase the number of shots you get and do your best to make the most of every shot. if we don't take Collard with that pick 28 then the flow on effect might mean we don't end up with Hastie or Garcia, both of whom I'm still feeling positive about. so maybe the overall outcome is worse. all you can do is look at overall trends, individual mistakes aren't useful.
