I was only there to ht. Trav in the guts killed Tsatsas, Clark of a hbf was tidy, Lance chased everything, Said kicked a monster from 60 and was good in the guts.
Thats about it.

We were beaten by Port Melb. in the 1st praccie game by 80ish points.
I think there were 6 changes made to the squad for this game.
Butler was the only afl listed player added l think.
Essendon must have very poor depth or maybe injuries.

I think players that didnt play AFL the previous week will be allowed to play

I can't find any reference to the eligibility rules that would cause such a change, but then the rules seem to be a big secret.

Imagine some guy like Paddy Dow, struggling to make the AFL squad, has to miss 4 games of VFL because of bye's and then has to miss the AFL bye round.

I don't think they have ever had an issue with AFL teams stacking the VFL during the bye. Normally regular AFL players would get the week off, and would only play VFL if the coaches thought they needed a run.

Its only Finals where i know there are rules for eligibility of AFL players to play VFL.

Essendon are poor both seniors and reserves, Port was our first game as a team in what? 27 years? We looked more connected in the half I saw. Tricky conditions that Saints handled well.

Did Doogs play? Look OK? If worst case sceanrio one of JSOS or Cal dont get up, relying on Keeler/Hammer doest fill me with massive confidence and Id be bringing him in. . Viking isnt ready as a one-out stopper although could worry a McStay/Membrey with his mobility

I know we're probably just finding our feet as a new VFL side, but it's very rough having to read an article on the Bombers website to get any sense of what happened in the game at all, and there's like zero commentary (obvs) on how our players went.
