Baker should have got a 50 metre penalty or StKilda a down field free kick for the clear ingringment after his initial kick. His final shot should have been from the line.

I agree. I saw the match on tv and that definately was a late hit. Should have been a 50 metre penalty. Irrespective of whether the siren had gone or not. From what I have heard none of the umpires had blown time therefore the freekick was still in play. And therefore because of the late hit it should have been brought to the goal line.....

And with Polak standing on Sandilands shoulders on the mark his kick would have been blocked, so we'd win.

Run away now, school's back tomorrow. Go sharpen your pencils.

And there had been 2 or 3 other late hits (much harder, later and more in the back, not side like this one) earlier in the game... not one was paid downfield.

This is the typical petulance coming out of the St Kilda dribblers!

You'd expect this from a side who'd actually won something in the past 40 years, like salary-cap cheats; not some home'n'away match!

why dont you F off to ya own board!

I suggest that when the siren button is pressed the goalposts submerge below ground. That way even if the id**ts can't hear the siren, at least the score can't change ...

Oooh a Hawthorn and an Essendon supporter on the same side. What's next? Richie and Lloydy having a pash behind the bike sheds??

You know what, I reckon there's not one person on this board who gives a toss about your opinions. Anyone with half a brain-cell knows what the morally correct outcome of yesterday's game really is.

Has no bearing on the fact that the result of either a draw or a St Kilda win would be (hopefully) overturned by the AFL as both were the result of 8 seconds of play that should not have happened.

There is a precedent for this.

Marginally late at best. If the contact was illegal- and it looked like a sideways push as he kicked it to me- then the procedure they followed was the standard one. If the player misses they get a second go at it. That side of things is reasonably standard in the AFL.

And anyone other than a fish would know not to swallow a big shiny hook with a big peice of bait on it!

You're forgetting 1 golden piece of information here mate, THE GAME WAS ALREADY OVER!!!!

AFL won't overturn the result, especially since sport betting companys have already paid out over the result.

Just get over it lads, only a game.

Funny, I can't remember losing to Essendon in any final....you're not thinking of 2001 by any chance?

To argue decisions during the match is one thing, but to argue decisions when the match should have officially been over is another. Perhaps your right, perhaps your not, this isn't what is being argued here.

Now go have a good nights sleep, school back tomorrow morning!

Go learn something bout football you idiot. How can it be downfield if the ball is a socre. Downfield means that it puts you in the position where the ball landed, should that be closer to goal. A 50m penalty? It wasnt even a free kick so I dont know where you get that from. Baker had the choice of either taking the score, or electing to retake the kick from where he was hit. he elected to retake the kick, and missed. Hence the draw, that will eventually turn out to be a Freo win. Fancy posting :D:D:D:D like this on the Fremantle board.

I don't know where your (as well as quite a few others) are getting that from because it has always been when a player has been illegally dumped after kicking a scoring shot, he has the choice of re-taking that shot where he was illegally dumped or take the score.

Correct decision by the umps and I don't think they will hand Freo the victory when the final outcome is revealed on Wednesday.
