Will post tomorrow thoughts on Saturday's racing, but on face value I am super keen. Was thinking that there should be no horses left ready to run, but all it has done is shrunk the fields apart from Melb.

Looking forward to it now.

I will be at Clifford Park Toowoomba if anybody is in the neighbourhood. Beer awaits.

Tips for Stakes Day

Looks a really good day for betting both in Melbourne and interstate.

Melb Race 1: Pretty ordinary race to start, perhaps Holding each-way, looked good last start at Bendigo

Melb Race 2: Think Picket Fence may have class. Think he'll win and probably a Hawkes quinella with Insurgents.

Melb Race 3: I have 3 fancies. Sweet Corn has drawn the best but look for both Magic Tumbler and Mrs Tendulker to run big races.

Melb Race 4: Like Recapitalize to win very impressive last start and I'd be throwing in Buffed to quinella

Melb Race 5: Get some nice odds in this one. Have been a follower of Into the Night but never seems to win. Ran a great race last start and won this race last year but I'm willing to lay her (that will probably come back and bite me)
Willing to have a piece of Deprave each-way after effort last start.

Melb Race 6: I reckon Shogun Lodge might be the one here. 3rd up, is flying and loves the 1600. My biggest concerns are Clangalang and Forum Floozie but I think the old boy can get up. Great race.

Melb Race 7: Republic found form last start at the valley and I was devastated not to be on it. Hard to catch but I'm willing to follow-up here. Won't touch it if he's unders though.

Melb Race 8: Legible also can have many excuses for not winning. Clearly the classiest horse in this race but needs a good run. Quinella with Zazzman looks a good bet.

Melb Race 9: Think Force Apollo here. Ran a bottler at the Valley, is drawn well and will love Flemington. Red Hannigan the danger.

Randwick Race 1: Desert Ransom with the lightweight looks good here.

Randwick Race 2: Ominous might be short but should have too much for this lot.

Randwick Race 4: Institution Each-way

Randwick Race 8: Millenium Charm each-way

Morphettville Race 2: Talanto looks a solid each-way bet at some juicy odds

Morphettville Race 3: Starhere will a lightish weight will get my money in this one

Morphettville Race 7: Probably the best bet in Adelaide is on Shanghai Moon here. Hope it's not too short.

Only on in Brsibane is Race 5, Huey looks destined to win again.

Well here is the deal

AR 1 #2 Pipkin .... bloody early

I think I'm planning to have half my stake for the day on her. Last start I pointed her out as a watch and learn proposition, and she ran great ... her opponents are crap ..... I'm gonna unload (prayers welcome)

BR 3 #3 Victory Highway

Can anybody tell me why she can't just win again ? Dangers are the top weight, who was most disappointing last start although wide, and I'm not convinced he will relish the mile. Galactic Dancer according to odds is a danger, and she lapped him last start, although he now gets 2kgs from her. Not as much pace here, but smaller field helps her. Dam .... i think she may win again.

AR 6 #2 Navy Shaker

Please take a gander at his form and compare it to the rest in this field. I tipped him last start at any old price on this forum. He might be odds tomorrow. Worry is he might have trained off, but if not he could make a mess of these. Good grief ! (Edit : ok done the form for this race in more detail now - but i still like the look of him, the race has more depth than i originally gave it credit for - maybe $5 or $6 on offer)

MR 8 #12 Tomorrow's Party

I must admit I don't know a great deal about this horse, but I did watch his last run and it was really good. He accepted for the Melb Cup and was balloted out. Legible is scratched, Zazzman will be short .... this guy might fill a hole or even win. $11 in the paper, I can't see it being any shorter even with Legible out. Will do me.

In short a few others that jump out

MR 3 #8 Larrocha - I have to keep backing, as she owes me

MR 5 #3 Pembleton - his last 2 runs have both been great, and this isn't quite as strong ..... is he a non-winner now ?

MR 6 #6 Rosina Lad - I potted Zanna last week and paid the price, well now I'm gonna pot this guy due to good track and could pay the price again ..... True Glo for me .... could be forgotten = price, no weight and good barrier tomorrow

BR 5 #7 Messiaen - fit now .... hope he takes a sit

I need to go study

I don't bet in Toowoomba unless I'm a mile in front .... and even then I only have a ridiculously wide treble

but they have bookies and a bar there, and its free to get in before 1pm ..... best Tab in Toowoomba

Melbourne:

Race 1 - Probably won't have a bet in this, but if I did I'd go for the roughie That's the Game.

Race 2 - Can't go past Picket Fence in this one, too short for my money though.

Race 3 - I'll go for Sabino Canyon and Imperatrix for a quinella. Sabino Canyon, low in the weights, I reckon will be the start of a good day fro G. Childs.

Race 4 - I'll leave out Catboy in this and go for Recapitalise. Trained by the in from David Hall, has won it's two starts so far and should definitely be there abouts in the finish.

Race 5 - I think this is the one for the real Star of Florida to show up. Depending on the price I might have a punt on it, otherwise I'm looking at Edgeton ($21 in the paper is good value).

Race 6 - True Glo is best bet of the day in Melbourne. Currently offering $9 on TAB Sportsbet, and I think that's over the odds. With Damien Oliver on board, and barrier 2, I think it'll have a soft ride in on the fence and out sprint them in the straight. This is an interesting race as it's hard to know where the pace will come from, there really is a lot of chances and I'd expect and a blanket finish. I am expecting True Glo to almost start favourite come race time. One of the races of the spring I think.

Race 7 - I also like Repulbic in this race. Form at Moonee Valley was very good, I'm anticipating a good run. Also like Dance on Wood, pending the odds.

Race 8 - With Legible out now, I'ts hard to go past Zazzman. It's the only one with good form of late. however Tomorrow's Party with a good gate and only the 52kg is worth looking at.

Race 9 - I like Red Hannigan in this race, however with J. Cassidy on board, and trained by Gai, I am reluctant to back it. Who knows what could happen. If it's not Red Hannigan, it's Silver Birch for mine.

Race 3. Gold Lottey e/w quinelaa and trifecta with sweet corn and Larrocha

Race 4 Buffed good thing IMO

Race 5 Pembleton e/w

Race 6 been saying Titanic Jack would win this race since his run in the Toorak, see no reason to change

Race7. Dance on Wood

Race 8 Lord Erin best value bet of the day

Race 9 Regicide e/w quinella with Silver Birch

IN front for the week hopefully it stays that way

Glad i didn't get on 'Holding' in race 1 at Flemo.
Planned to but didn't get round do it.

Flemington - Im going to sit back and watch the first 5 without betting. Don't have any standouts in these.

Race 6 - I like BOREALE but I would suggest you only take the place here. Should pay a nice $4 or $5 just for the place.

Race 7 & 8 - Sitting these ones out too.

Race 9 - SILVER BIRCH - drops in weight, almost exactly a year ago he started his rise as a really good horse at the carnival.
ZOOMETRIC - Am taking this one for a place too. Tasty odds on offer.

Morphettville -

Race 2 - VERSE LAGO

Race 4 - EYE FOR AN EYE

Race 5 - MR JAZZ MAN - Whatever you have for the win, put 3 times as much for the place.

Race 6 - NAVY SHAKER

Randwick

Race 5 - GALLANT SON- For the win
GO VOLARE - For the place,a plodder who could run into the placings over this trip - Will be a real nice collect if Gallant Son wins and Go Volare gets a place.

I had the quinella in the Emirates a few times and just pulled the first leg of the Sydney treble with two well-fancied horses to come. This is starting to look a good day for me. I hope others are having some luck too.

Bleeding badly.
From Melb cup day I have had bets in about 18 races for just the one place. Really have to make some hard decisions with my punting. This is getting ridiculous now. Confidence is at an all time low and when I do fancy something I am reluctant to put much on and then of course it always wins!

Cleaned up after half way through the meeting should have been a better day my good think in Buffed should have won

very good week after the Quinella in the last today but i most likely will lose the lot at Sandown next week

Sure things my arse ...Two winners from nine and a second placing saw me win on the day but only just. Bet $450 all up and won about $475

well i tipped like a dog today .... sorry if anybody took any notice of them

Victory Highway was a nice win .... but the rest on face value were pretty ordinary indeed .... (need to do the videos)

I managed to recover from my early setback (read leg amputation here) with Pipkin (who clearly needs further - stupid Pig) ...... but was unable to sustain .... managed to find Juggling Time to get me out somewhere near square (lucky went looking for wet trackers at Doomben) ..... was looking pretty ugly there for a while .... but I copped a loss today

3 winners, 2 narrow defeats and I had a little $5 Saver on Titanic Jack, so all up a winning day for me
