The answer is position and role... Stanley can't play on the small, quick forwards, and can't do a running tagging job in the middle.
I don't see why we couldn't give him a go on Black in the middle this week. Maybe that's what they have lined up for Barham. Either way, Black is not quick and the one point Peverill made about Stanners last week was that his tackling was exceptional and team-lifting.

At any rate, there is the possibility that MM could be gone before Stanley. Could be the making of him.

Lets hope so.
If Collingwood did not think he could make it they would have let him go last year. Many believe he can make it and talking to a few players and officials at jumper presentation they are all very confident and can't wait for him to be picked by MM. The ones I spoke to all think he is ready and just waiting for his turn. I am sure it will happen.

He's deserved a place all season! c'mon man, the guys much better than say, 5, of our players running out there tonight.

Well now we know why.. I've never seen a player get 3 possessions and have -6 dream team points for them

He has given away 4 free kicks. 2 may not have really been his fault but gee this kid can't take it in the big league. Feel really sorry for him because he is one I wanted to see come along.

Happy Stanners got a chance but I think he unfortunately proved he is not good enough for AFL level

I was at the game... have just shuffled slowly home to read these.

MM spent quite a lot of time at 3/4 time with Stanners talking and gesticulating - not mad, but he seemed to be giving a lot of guidance and time. I'd say 28 is in for next week and is possibly being put through the acid test for the next 2-3 weeks.

Wasn't as awful as people made out, just that the bad mistakes were when the spotlight was on him. He ran hard, took some good marks and made a contest of it, just lacked that extra 5-10% class that would have had him up to pace.

Keep at it Dan

one thing in this modern game is support, and we were lacking in that area tonight, Stanley's endeavor was there, but when we got tackled (not just him) saint's players' were everywhere and we just didn't have that attack

he'll get another couple of games to sort out what good he'll be.

who ever was at the ground wouldve realised if the senior players went in as hard as stanley we may have been alot closer.

fair enough he got caught and turned it over a few times on the wing. but if you saw what he had to kick it to ( rocca vs 5) you would see why.

dont judge him on a game where he had no team mates helping.
