Stargate: Atlantis cancelled

This is just depressing ...
Once again a quality, intelligent sci-fi series is cancelled ...

They will still produce a couple of 90 min straight to DVD TVM's, but it's still not the same as having a regular series.

I really though the last few season's of Atlantis was better then the last couple of seasons of SG-1 ...

It's just a bullshit decision IMHO ...

That's a real shame. Atlantis is a great show. I'm looking forward to getting season 4 when it's out next month. I'm hoping they didn't cut the series when it was still good.

For mine SG-1 went about 1 season too long. The quality in season 10 just isn't the same as the other seasons. I didn't like Ark of Truth too much, but greatly enjoyed continuum.

Hopefully this new third series Universe will be good to watch. If nothing else it's good to see the stargate franchise is still alive.

SG-1 was all about the chemistry between the team. It should have stopped when Richard Dean Anderson wasn't willing to be in most episodes. Which is probably also why I enjoyed Continuum more then Ark of Truth as at least he has a reasonable cameo in that.

And with Atlantis canned, if Amanda Tapping isn't going into that can we just have O'Neil nail Carter finally (who wouldn't want to tap Amanda?!).

I'm surprised it's been cancelled, with the third Stargate series reported to be coming into being. I'm guessing SCI FI think the franchise doesn't make enough money to sustain two television series operating at the same time?

I can't say I was a huge fan of it though. It was enjoyable (in a late-night-Thursday sort of way), but the overall tone and style of the series was, like SG-1, a bit too 'light' for my tastes.
