I remember them Ross Lyon feels when you feel like you've dominated the game but just cant seem to put them away. Then your pressure drops for 10 minutes and they bang 4 goals through quickly. We remember that right? Well it was nice to be on the other end of it, doing the banging.

Clearance numbers meant stuff all when they were hack kicks to no one, or intercepted by the best damn HBer in the league Clark. They werent damaging, they werent putting those clearance numbers on the scoreboard which suggests to me that we let them have it knowing we could win it back down the line. We had more inside 50s and i always felt like we were way better on the outside.

Enjoy the win! 6 in a row doesnt happen all that often to us so I'm really enjoying it.

I feel like you’ve got them back to front, Erasmus is Rockcliff / Dunkley/ J.Steele, you’ll never die wondering whether he committed to a contested ball.

Johnson is Crisp / DeGoey / Yeo but without the dickhead factor. He’s an enormous mid, and very very strong. 194cm, he looks key position size and is very broad. In 2-3 years will be nearly impossible to tackle.
At his best, I don't think Erasmus will ever be as good as Dunkley (Rockliff and Steele I'd agree)
At his best, I don't think Jonno will be as good as Crisp, DeGoey or Yeo. (These are All Australians that can be game winners).

Probably worth remembering how Ross Lyon left compared to the players that left us. He didn’t want to leave at the time - we sacked him.

I booed Liam Henry all night. He’s a FIGJAM who thought he was too good for the club that gave him everything from his early teens.

When people booed Ross Lyon I stayed quiet.

As for Ross Lyon’s game style, the game would be way worse off if everyone coached the same way IMO.
The one thing in his defence is that this Saints team is very, very average. Especially with no Max King. Unless he goes super defensive they don't really have the talent to be competitive most weeks. They desperately need some top end draft picks especially in the middle. Agree on Henry, ungrateful little shit.

Just wish he wouldn't try to fend off every time he gets the ball, he would be one of the top 5 for holding the ball in the comp.

I think they’re starting to get there in terms of adding that talent tbh and Ross Lyon’s gameplan is keeping them semi-competitive for most of the season unlike a few other teams trying to the same thing. Rate their youth now far higher than the ‘gun youngsters’ their fans thought they had during the Watters/Richardson era.

Rewatched that last qtr and as shit as amiss has been this year he has had some massive moments in close games in the last quarter this year. Takes some absolutely key marks and hits targets inside 50. While he’s not doing much early he’s doing a lot late and he defs should not be dropped

100% agree with this.

One is a young kid looking to find his place in the world and the other is someone who has been in coaching roles longer than Liam Henry has been alive & he also sexually harassed a staff member?

Not saying I didn't find it hilarious that Henry shushed the crowd in the 2nd quarter, he's learnt nothing, lol. 🤫

Wrong on Yeo, Crisp is absolutely a dickhead. Yeo just has on field arrogance.

I really like Yeo as a player, wish Freo grabbed him when we had the chance.

Example of Crisp the dickhead:

Crisp obliterates Fremantle’s midfield everytime both teams play. 29 disposals, 2 goals last time whist Daicos was tagged out of the game.
He’s underrated and can kick goals. Would instantly have him in the team.

Didn’t he do the same celebration against us last year or am I misremembering? The irony being the game was at Marvel so he was shushing his own fans.

Guarantee the only reason Ross bought him in was to be cheeky because he hasn’t been setting the world on fire in the VFL and it won’t be long before he’s back there. Complete myth of a player and glad he’s not our problem anymore.

I agree with this entirely. I felt the fox commentary team panicked and besmirched their bed a tad by concentrating on the clearances, but not also properly acknowledging the scores from turnovers and inside 50's, which we actually won.

By so heavily concentrating on just one aspect of the game (which Saints were always going to win by virtue of outnumbering us at stoppages with their forwards joining in), it showed a lack of game awareness and real insight into how the contest was being lost and won overall, which is, afterall, what they are paid to do.

As dramatic as it was saying "Dockers are getting smashed at stoppages - the dam wall will break! This is out of control!", they left out some other key areas that were ensuring Fremantle well and truly stayed in the game until they eventually wrestled ascendancy from a rapidly tiring side.

Yeah, its a strange one. I dont know what's causing him to be close to invisible the first half every game and then constantly step up in the last quarter. Its surely not just a case of fitness.

For the love of god, he didn't sexually harass anyone. He made a comment at a party, which was overheard, and the person that overheard it was offended by the comment.
It pretty much happens at every pub on every Friday night in every city in Australia. (By both sexes).

Maybe putting all this size on has confused him and he needs to learn what his strengths are and that he’s not as nimble as he was

On Amiss, others have said it but he really seems to be lacking confidence. Remember some of those marks he was taking in his second year? I haven't seen any of those this year. It has to be mental, and I don't know what the solution is.

This is my biggest issue with Pav as a special comments guy.

He tends to find a narrative early in the game and then proceed to go on about it like a bastard for the next four quarters. If he was a DJ he'd find his favourite song and then play it ad nauseum for the rest of the night.

The fact that other aspects of the game, like you've mentioned, scores from turnovers etc, were not discussed was poor.

He's just about my favourite Docker but one of my least liked commentators.

I have a bit of a different view. 39-13 (or whatever it was) is about as lopsided as it will get with clearances at an AFL game and had to be mentioned by the commentary team.
We had more talent across the field, which was keeping us in the game, but I have no doubt we would have lost that game if we had continued to get belted in the clearances in the last quarter. Most surprising was centre bounce clearances, where the numbers have to be even, and we were getting smashed in there for the first 3 quarters. Maybe the commentary team should have mentioned the inside 50's more, but the clearance numbers were critical to who would win the game.

It was a staff member, that he was in a direct position of power over, at a staff event.

And just because something happens a lot, doesn’t make it any less foul or creepy.

He’s also frustrated. He does a large block of sprinting to the ball carrier but gets nothing. Watching him live, he does a lot of work off ball and that opens up for Voss and Treacy.

He's really closely guarded. When the game opens up as opposition are trying to win the game, you'll see the half backs float wider and higher, he has more space and because we are also able to move the ball a lot faster since it's less congested - he comes into the contest.

We can just move the ball faster and the same will happen.

I can't lie to you, it always feels really good to hear St Kilda, I've never liked them, always been on my shit list of most hated teams.

Except it really wasn't anywhere near that much. And the clearance numbers aren't critical to who wins the game if they lead to a quick kick to a forward line turnover where the opposition has two extra players in an empty paddock in defence because you've flooded the stoppage.

We lost total clearances by 15, 46-31, but most of those were the 9 we lost 33-24 to St Kilda around the ground when they had one or two extra players at the stoppage. We only lost the centre clearances by 6 in the end, 13-7, and while not ideal, it was far from terminal.

We won the inside 50's 49 to 41, We had the ball in possession 45 percent of the match compared to 36 percent for them, and St Kilda turned it over 63 times to our 48.

They played a rolling maul around the ball, and we accepted what they gave us, and were calm and incisive when we invariably got the ball when they smashed it forward into their empty forward line.

Then their rolling maul ran out of gas.

Sure, I hear little Caleb And Andy got bullied off the ball in the centre, but it was far from fatal, and we mixed it up with Shai and Dogga to combat this.

The way the commentary team carried on about one area of the game, you'd think we were getting pummeled.

I think you are forgetting that the comment was not said to that staff member that he has power over. I don't condone the comment but you can't start throwing around sexual harassment claims on things that are overheard in social settings. Complete madness.
