Good to Seedsman get another chance he deserves another go,Ceglar only has 1 last chance to debut this year and that will be against gws the same applies to Mooney I think Elliott is a big chance to stay in the team if he works hard.

Once we start getting a few players back I would be inclined to make fewer changes unless forced we need a bit of continuity in our last 6 to 8 games leading into finals, everyone who is coming back this season should be in the team and going by then and some of them would not have played very much football at all and so should not be stuffed by finals time, but on the other hand we want them back asap to guard against players being underdone which is also a major concern.

I should add no suspensions please.

what has happened to tooovey and heata?
Ill be praying that theres no more injuries..
We could be top of the table after this match, if you think about it, its a realistic though, and who wouldve thought that after round 3, i know i did!:)

With Pendles the only confirmed "Out" I'd wager that Elliot will be the young one to keep his position with Ugle or Seedsman named sub.

It's nice to see Swannie and the big fellas back.

Nice ins. Wonder who comes out.
Pertinent point, that.

Obviously Pendles is already out.
Seedsman I'd say is unlikely given we are giving Marley Williams and Jamie Elliott an extended run.

Two more need culling from the emergencies.
I'd say one ruck won't play. I'd have liked to see Wood go head to head with Jamar, but unfortunately he's the first one on the ranks once again for a chop as Jolly clearly has been identified as the number one king pin, and Dawes offers the team more mobility.
I'd say the last spot is between Ugle and Young. Personally I'd dump Young and try to find an entire game for Ugle rather than having him as the sub. Unfortunately that probably means Elliott in the sub position.

So, the overall changes would be:
In: Jolly, Swan, Tarrant
Out: Wood, Pendlebury, Young

Like for like changes, but I think in each we probably make an improvement. (Though Swan v Pendlebury might be seen otherwise. I still really like and rate Swan, one of the modern day Magpie heroes.)

Don't like the idea of Wood being dropped.

I have no issue with players out of form being dropped, or being left in to find form. But when you drop players who are playing well WHILE leaving in clearly out of form players, then I take issue.

Dawes should come out for Jolly.

Ed, that's a very big call. I can't argue with your logic. Would playing Wood and Jolly make us top-heavy, and expose Cloke in the forward line?

I think if Dawes was to be dropped, the club would have sent a message and dropped him out of the 25 man squad when it was initially announced, it just makes little sense to now drop him late and basically let him escape any scrutiny.

I think we'll wait and see what the weather is like on Monday, if the forecast is clear (as it seems to be now) all 3 of Wood, Jolly and Dawes may play, especially with Ugle, Elliott, Fasolo, Blair and Didak at their feet in the forward line now.

Previously this year we lacked depth in the small forward position in the seniors, so I reckon we were reluctant to go with a tall forward line, but with Elliott showing great form, and Ugle likely to get another run, all of a sudden we might be able to play a resting ruckman up forward with Dawes and Cloke.

I wouldn't mind seeing it tried this week, especially with NicNat and Cox to come next.

Absolutely agree!!!!
Would much prefer Jolly in our forward line than the professional volleyballer!!!

Wood would be unlucky to go but I can't see us dropping Dawes and playing two ruck man one as the other tall forward. Against Melbourne it might work. If we are going to take both Jolly and Wood into the West Coast and maybe Freo game then it makes sense that we will play both this week with Dawes. He is out of form but he might be playing a part that the coaches want or need him to play. Sinclair was on our radar the first couple of rounds but Bucks had him in there for a reason. Dawes might be in the same boat and might not be close to being dropped.

Has anybody here got a sense of trepidation re Dawes as 2nd ruck against Eagles and Freo for that matter because I can tell now I have,we will really need to "shark it" against both teams.I think Wood should Ruck against Jamar but I don,t think it will happen, but for certain we need 2 rucks against both WA teams.

Yes somewhat Ippy but Wood rucked solo (leroy back up)against Cox and NicNat last year when we poumped them by 50 and Jolly went solo (Leroy back up) in the QF albeit Cox got injured after halftime.

Our mids are just so good that still win enough of the ball to win games. While we lose bit in tap outs, if Dawes and Jolly can just neagte the ruck contest, we'll have superior running players to get our defenseive pressure right up.

We must not drop Elliott he is the 1 young player who has shown real class and X factor in his 1 full game,he really looks a likely type to me Ugle and Seedsman must go out before Elliott.

Yes and no - Pendlebury is the reason we are so good at it, if he doesn't play against West Coast we will get smashed in the middle without 2 genuine rucks..

I will concede that the 2nd paragraph is true but Jolly was getting smashed by Nic Nat and Cox last year until Cox went down, also I think Brown was quite a bit better than Dawes as 2nd ruck he did have a physical presence something Dawes has lacked so far.

If we were to go up against the Eagles with 1 ruckman that probably should be Wood because we saw what happened to Jolly against Carlton when ruckman jump at the ball and Natinui certainly goes at the ball.

Nice ins. I dont think Seedsman will play.

C - Thomas Swan Wellingham
