Obviously we're not gonna get close to a flag in the next few seasons so why no drop some of the fringe older players and give some young players some game time. Trade/delist the likes of Dempster,Gardiner, other Gardiner, Fiora, Schneider, Gwilt, the G Train needs to go and Harvs, as great as he's been for the club, needs to make way for the younger players. Start to put games into the young players now and not waste next season. What are your thoughts?

Yeh interpol it is a kneejerk reaction to a bad game. Of course it is. Whether i'll be thinking this tommrow, i dunno. But i need to let the steam out, because i'm absolutely shattered atm. Dempster is playing well, but he isn't really getting us anywhere. Fair player, not good enough to help to us to a flag, a terrific depth player however. So many players today just didn't put in the effort required. Hope Ross Lyon really swings the axe next thursday

I'm goign to have a shocking week. Really shocking week. I'm so shattered. Just a deep deep feeling of disappointment now the anger's gone. Just that sinking feeling. How did this happen?

Havent had this feeling for a long time... All our previous losses were against better teams, even against Port I didnt feel that bad cos they're our bogey team.

Now I just feel empty, flipping footy.

We needed a forward line. Gardiner played full forward for most of the day and was absolutley pathetic. Gave away waaay to many free kicks, and for any dreamteamers here, he scored -17. Riewoldt kicked 5, normally that's enough to win you a game, but he can't do it by himself. Kosi was sorely missed.

There's no point rebuliding now because with the GC team coming in all the drafts will be shit cos they're just going to take anyone half good.

I hate to say it but i think we're gonna just have to sit in the 6-12 positions for the next few years.

Signd Sealed Saint nominated 8 players to drop/delist/retire at seasons end. 8 is too many young players to pick up at once. In any event I would hang onto Michael Gardiner and Gwilt, and hope Harvs goes around again. Question marks must hang over Max and Matt. When Max does his hammy, he always does it early in the game leaving us one man short. I realise he is a champion of the Saints, and will be sad to see him go (when he does), but dont be surprised if it is'nt this year. Same with Matt if he has no confidence in his feet and legs.
I do expect us to lose 6 players at the end of the year. Maybe one will be traded for a draft pick, ideally. 6 will be enough to replace in one season, even if it is a super draft. I dont expect the players that will be available for the 4th round and beyond to be potential champions, so we have to ensure we dont have to pick up too many.

Thought Eddy was pretty good today, and CJ had another 18+ poss game (his 9th in a row).

Mini did some good stuff too.

Just thought we were let down by some guys who won't be traded.

I have always thought we needed Baker and X in this team.

Rix (yeah, I'll go again ) should have been tried already as a defender - not a forward. He could have taken Cox/Seaby/Lynch. It gives us cover for an injury (in the ruck or in defence) and ensures we can keep trying to push Sam F and BJ upfield.

Give it a shake. Milney I'm sorry but that's pretty optimistic. We'll be making up the numbers, if we make the first final we'll get thrashed. If we couldn't beat a WCE team that depleted, then we are not worthy of playing finals

Rebuilding isn't an answer. When you have players like Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Ball, Hayes, Fisher, Gram, Montagna, Hudgeton, Milne, Harvey, Maguire and Koschitzke, we are quite capable of beating anyone. We also have upcoming players like Armitage, Geary, CJ and McEvoy it just shows we should be right for another 2-3 years.

The only things that need to change is the passion of the players. Robert Harvey looks to be the only passionate player left in our team (except for a few others). Should it really take an almost 37 year old veterans passion for a final, the only reason to win one?

Schneider and Dempster are 24ish from memory and if this is their peak. They're not fantastic. Good depth players but they're not gonna get us anywhere

Believe it or not you cannot just throw away your list and hire a heap of young guns. Problem is that the AFL put this new fangled draft system in place. ( And not many teams are willing to trade a hot young player for an Aron Fiora).
We are short of a key forwards and we don't have a good replacement for Max H. At this time it is not sure that Allen will be able to fill one of these spots, and it is unlikely that Ferguson will become anything more than an average player. Hopefully MacEvoy will become a good rucking utility - Like Blake but taller ( or like Kosi but good at ruck).
We would be crazy to get rid of Gardner ( who was shocking on the weekend, but this is not his typical form ) and King, when they will probably retire in a couple of years anyway - and we will still want new recruits in a couple of years.
I disagree that Rix is an obvious inclusion. Apparently he was tried against Nathan Thompson a couple of weeks ago and was not effective, so I am not sure he could have done the job against Lynch etc.
I agree that we are missing X and Baker. In particular Baker might have been good to knock the wind out of the likes of Braun or Staker.

The good thing is our team is not all the same age, and It is bad planning to end up with an aging team like Adelaide. Properly managed the ineffective players can be replaced by new recruits each year without the need for trading.
If Max/Harvy want to play next year - let them, they are still in our best 22 ( hell they are in our best 10 ) and we will still want new recruits the year that they do choose to retire.

The four others mentioned at the start of the list are surely in the hot seat though.
