Have not a clue who will start on Barry Hall.
Clement will not play, neither will Presty, Harry or Rhyce.
All reports say Jimmy's calf tear is not healing as well as we'd like, Presty has stress fractures so a two-week lay-off won't be long enough, Harry is obviously gone and Rhyce has a hammy that was only done on Saturday/Sunday so he should miss.

I'd go with:

FB: Stanley Maxwell H. Shaw
HB: Cox Wakelin Goldsack

Other options?
- Lonie is coming back this week for Willy, if he has a good run he might come straight back in.
- Nathan Brown?
- Throw Cloke down back if we're getting pumped?

HELPPP

if rocca sucks again, put him in front of hall, but i doubt rocca will struggle against leo barry? or ted richards?

Week need Lockyer through the midfield though been one our best all year. I would definately play Lonie ... he can play on a tall. Im worried how we are going to cover Nick Davis, Oloughlin, Schnider, Buchanon and O'keffe.

Cough Cough Ben Holland COUGH COUGH:thumbsd:
Ben Holland wont get away with his negating tactics too often. I expect that the Swans players will be a little less aggressive in their attempts to quell our big man. And if they pull what Ben Holland pulled, expect the umps to be worded up about it quick smart!

cox should be given ago again this week, instead of stanley. not saying stanley should be dropped but should definetly not playing in the backline given the inexperience of it at the minute. I think we should show faith in maxwell and give him a shot, who knows he might actually do something... otherwise wakelin. We are really only short a good quality tall defender (who would have thought our best 3 options, 4 if you include jack possibly, would be injured) we can cover smalls pretty well! We may have to put cloke back to cover the whole or the resting forward, who knows. Brown could be chucked into the thick of it, just like fanning was. you never know, his brother had a great debut for west coast!

Maxwell Wakes Lockyer

H Shaw Cox Goldsack

Lonie on interchange

Would think if Ryan Lonie played he would go straight to Adam Goodes as he did last year and had a fair bit of success if memory recalls kicking 2 goals and having 20 odd posi's featuring in collingwoods best. Not a bad effort ona dual Brownlow Medalist.

Didnt See much of the game so cant really judge danny stanleys performace but from what i have seen of tyson golsack he needs a good pre season in the gym because at the moment he just doesnt have that strength to play on a tall given his height at 192cm should allow him to. he is more accustomed to playing on the medium sized fowards as he has a bit of pace to work with for his frame.

Hall should play well on wakelin and i think leo will be tested by rocca...we should have the advantage over you guys but you might have the advantage over us if u decide to push fraser foward...good luck ferals:)

Throw frikkin Reid in. No 8 in the draft, 196cm and fastest over 20 meters! Get him blooded before he has to deal with Buddy Franklin boys, because he will rip anyone who can't run with him a new one!:) Is it time for a Richards/Bryan combo? With Bryan down back? Thin black and white back line isn't getting any fatter.

Yep I think it is time for Richards and Bryan in the same team. They've both been serviceable and the value we will gain from being able to move Fraser onto the ball and forward will make up for any shortcomings that we have by not playing him in the ruck.

Hell, if it goes pear-shaped in the ruck we've still got him there to go up in the centre bounces anyway.

The best thing we have going for us against Sydney is their game plan - specifically, the lock-down stuff and their refusal to effectively use what is a (potentially) very-potent forward line. Doubt me? Well, remember just how close we ran them up there with our very-depleted 2004/05 sides - and just how much they scared the crap out of us when they finally decided to go for it in the last 10 mins or so last year.

At the same time, our backline is now so decimated we need to do something different - for mine, put an extra man down there to play as a spoiler (3rd man up, Jason Cloke type of role) and also to provide some extra run out of the back (the Footscray thing). From Willi reports, a Wellingham or Clarke might just be able to do that, but I think they need to be elevated first(?)

If so, maybe Cox. In fact, bring him back anyway - IMO he was easily the best of the three brought in against Richmond.

i wonder why mick never floods once in a while, could of won us some games, he defintly should drop a loose man back in the back 50 to force hall out of the 50/ annoy him

I'd use the exact same back 6 as the one we finished with yesterday, except I'd bring in Cox for Stanley. Not saying Stanners should be dropped just saying that he should be on a wing or something.

We've lost 4 of our best back 6 including our 3 best talls. That's gotta hurt.

Key thing here is match ups. Swans only play a 4 man forward line, creating space for these 4, generally leaving the other 2 forwards to play as wingmen (O'Keefe and Buchanan/Schneider).

Hall - has to be Wakes
O'Loughlin - Maxwell
Davis - H Shaw (run off him as Davis won't chase. He's lazy)

Goldsack, Stanley or Swan/Lockyer/Thomas(rotate) to fill the remaining spots.

We don't seem to have a choice but to play the young guys.

Ben Holland wont get away with his negating tactics too often. I expect that the Swans players will be a little less aggressive in their attempts to quell our big man. And if they pull what Ben Holland pulled, expect the umps to be worded up about it quick smart!

The umps worded up?
You dont think they were "worded up" after the 1st contest yesterday?
Though them umps theyre certainly "sharp"...NOT

Clement wont play again until round 16, around the same time bucks is expected to return. Presti has one serious fracture in his foot, they think 4 weeks, but told dont hold your breath could be up to 6/7 weeks.

Watched sydney vs Hawthorn and Hall isn't in good form. They dont seem to create the same space for him as usual and are not running from behind the man with the ball to free up the space. I think Sydneys small fowards such as davis are the ones to worry about.

Wait and see who comes up though because two weeks is a long time in footy

Richards should play because Everet and Jolly don't jump, just maul and I don't think Bryan will be able to win or break even at the stoppages giving Sydney too great of an advantage

Interesting to see if MM plays Toovey on Goodes. Seems to like those match ups and I think toovey will have learnt a bit from running with Burgoine ect.
