Does anyone here have experience with the STAT test? I'm looking to get back into uni (long story short, it didn't work out the first time around but not because of intellectual reasons) as a mature age student. I've looked at the practice tests and I've got basically perfect scores in the multiple choices, I'm confident I could get an above average score and from what I've read scores of 150 (the mean) are good enough to get in.

Has anyone here gotten into uni though the test and what were your experiences with it like?

I did one years ago when I first got into Uni - I think it was 2008

The test was pretty straightforward so I wouldn't worry too much about it - The test I took was held out at Caulfield Racecourse and there were 100s of others doing the test - Certainly would've made a bit of cash as I think it was $120 or so to sit the test -

Just make sure you check out what requiremenets your course needs - The first time I applied for Uni, (end of '08 for an '09 start) I didn't get accepted because there was apparently a written English test I was supposed to have done but I didn't know about...

So the following year I applied for La Trobe and they didn't need the written English test so I was able to use the STAT test score from the previous year and got in that way - Apparently the test is good for 3 years or something...

I did the STAT test back in 2011. I am not sure how much it helped me get into the course I want, since I got in and the university does not really tell you the reasons why they admitted you but in saying that I would recommend the STAT test to anyone looking to go to uni as having the results in your application certainly can't hurt, especially if your results are quite good.

I did the multiple choice and the written exams and did well in both but a word of warning that if you are not used to writing a lot in an hour then be careful with the written exam as your hand can get quite sore after a while. It is the downside to only using a computer to write as the muscles in your hand used for hand writing become weaker.

First off make sure that what you plan to study at Uni, allows you to use the STAT test as entry requirements. You may need to do bridging courses at TAFE to qualify for certain courses.
