On Saturday, only one game was played due to the big AFL fixture at Aurora Stadium, Clarence did battle with Hobart at Bellerive Oval on ABC1.
In a tedious encounter played in cool and showery conditions, the Roos and Tigers played a tight and somewhat heated contest early on.
The Clarence team needed to lift their standard by quite a bit, playing the bottom three teams going into the finals being hardly ideal preparation, they tried to manufacture passion but it really wasn't there, the Roos gradually drawing away from Hobart in regulation fashion to stretch the margin to 22-points at half time.
The third term was a scramble as heavy rain fell for most of the quarter, once again Clarence playing at about 70% and doing enough to keep a woefully undermanned Hobart side at bay.
The final quarter saw the Roos lift their workrate and race away with the match as Hobart became undisciplined and several spotfires broke out around the ground, Clarence getting out to a 77-point lead late in the match before Hobart snagged their only two goals of the second half late in the game, Clarence getting a goal on the siren to take a 71-point win.
Clarence will need to lift by a long way if they are to beat the top sides on that display, Hobart continue their horrid record at Bellerive Oval, the Tigers last win against Clarence at Bellerive was on July 14th 1990 and have only won four times there since the 1960's.

On Sunday, once again the weather was poor.
Heavy showers in Hobart continuing to dog the TSL roster which has endured the wettest winter since 1974.
High-flying Glenorchy travelled to North Hobart to take on the Demons who have been in improved for of late.
In a replay of last year's Premier League Grand Final the result was similar with the Magpies increasing their lead at every change to lead by 40-points at three-quarter time before landing a crushing blow with six goals to one in the final stanza to run out 69-point winners.
At Devonport, the home side tackled bottom-placed South Launceston and the Magpies gradually drew away from a plucky Bulldog outfit.
After a dour first three quarters in which Devonport lead 10.9 to 4.7 at the final change, the Pies equalled South's entire match score in the final quarter to race away to a convincing victory, also by 69-points.
Lauderdale's home match against Launceston was transferred from the Lauderdale Sports Ground up to the Bellerive Oval due to AFL Tasmania ruling the surface unfit for play at State League level.
This wouldn't have bothered the Blues one iota by playing on the vastly bigger ground and in a rain-soaked encounter the Blues drew away from Lauderdale in the first half to lead by 39-points at the long break.
Not much scoreboard action in the second half but the Blues kept on with the business to run out easy 52-point winners
