Wonder what STEAM Game they are going to release free to the public to soothe the situation a la PSN.

Will enjoy hearing Kerrby's take on this...after being livid about a system he doesn't use being hacked, can't imagine how mad he'll be with a system that he uses every day being hacked!

They hacked into the forum and accessed a database with personal info.
Just updated the URL for the desktop site. Doesn't the guy look like Peter Griffin?

Hmm, Skyrim uses Steam right? Was planning to get the game so not sure how much data you have to provide for an account.

I uninstalled steam a few days ago. Not sure why... but it ****s with my internet connection. Like it would drop out completely for no reason.

My mate is now 7k lighter thanks to some steam hackers:thumbsu:

I hope your mate lets steam know.

But are you sure it's from the steam hackers? I find it a little hard to believe that the hackers have already cracked 256AES encryption in about 5 days. Would need the world's greatest super-computer for that

(I'm not saying I don't believe you or your mate. It just doesn't seem right which could mean that Steam have lied about the encryption they have used for our details. Sure hope not)

I believe I read Dota 2 and Portal 2 will be the games offered.

In all honesty, for what some PC gamers claim as the 'messiah', Steam really isn't all that great, it's probably above the level of a movie of the week or a t-shirt though. Mostly because of the numerous small bugs and relatively large footprint. There really isn't much of an option besides though.

Steam's footprint is completely insignificant if you have 2 gigs of ram. There are some annoying bugs here and there but its miles ahead anything the console services offer.

I'll say I don't believe them then, because that sounds like complete bs.

I might be off the mark here, but I read Delerious' post as a joke, ie. his mate is now 7KG lighter because he hasn't been able to play the game. Just a hunch.

At first I was angry but then I wasn't.

There's some major differences between the Steam and PSN hack.

1. Sony took a week to let everybody know. Gabe let everybody know the next day when attack happened.
2. PSN went down for a month, Steam hasn't been interrupted at all.
3. The PSN passwords/credit card information/personal information wasn't protected at all. All user information stored in Steam is basically uncrackable.

I doubt it because Steam hasn't been offline or interrupted in anyway.
