Had an ordinary season by his standards, so probably a little more gettable in a trade.
Young, great size - virtually an Embley clone physically, does a great job of shutting players down, but IMO is wasted as a 'run with' player.

Crows will be looking to boost their ruck soon, with Clarke hitting 30. Cox and a late draft pick might tempt them.

HB: Embley Lynch Stenglein

Looks tasty to me.

Cox AND a draft pick for Stenglein? You must be kidding.

Embley playing off half back?

Dude, please give me the phone number of your dealer.

i think we should be the ones receiving the draft pick and a good one at that - 2nd round.

Quality ruckman much more sought after than taggers

And the other thing is, Cox cannot be traded!!

Not at this stage anyway. If Seaby shows next year that he can fill the role of Cox in 2005, then maybe we should look at trading Dean Cox. Not until then.

Could you imagine if we didn't have Cox and when Gardiner goes down (which he will at some point in the year) and we had to throw in a raw ruckman like Seaby as a full timer? We would get smashed. Our midfield plan revolves around us getting the hitout more than 50% of the time.

Stenglein will not be traded. He is under contract, happy at Adelaide and very much a required player;)

theorangeapple, you have rocks in your head if you think that you'd be getting Stenglein and 2nd round pick for Cox.

Get some perspective will you:rolleyes:

Nothing wrong with Embley on a HB flank, he's played plenty of footy for us there, and gives us some run out of defense. Might pay to watch a few more games.

My point with Stenglein is that he is wasted as a tagger, could be another Embley potentially if given some freedom, and we wouldn't have to worry about the defensive side of his game.

As for Cox, you may be right but we aren't going to improve the side by offering duds for trade. Would Adelaide be willing to accept Carroll or Munro or Chambers

And my dealers number

1-900 FU.

You say that Stenglein is wasted as a tagger, but Embley has shown he plays his best football on a wing or half forward. He would be wasted on a half back flank, we have many other players who can fill that role.

If we traded a draft pick and our #2 ruckman (who is quality) for a tagger, I would cut up my membership.

Totally agree. Embley is just so difficult to match up on when he plays on a wing, too big and strong but with great stamina. Really provides a huge link from the backline to the forward line with his strongmarking presence. To play him off half back when we already have guys like Hunter and Green playing so well back there would be a waste.

Give me Embley playing off the wing and running into the F50 anyday. With the line-up we had for most of the year he was just about the only bloke we had down there capable of taking a contested mark. Don't kick too many goals off HB.

Unless Stenglein was desparate to come home I wouldn't reckon he'd be worth the effort. Selwood plays in a similar vein and could be as good if not better if we are prepared to wait a couple of years.
