Re: Steve Johnson's knee

Hope they're right in saying it's not as bad as first thought. Best wishes SJ. :thumbsu:

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

fully-weight bearing in the rooms according to MMM, iced and treatment already started. Larkins reckons he's at least an 80% chance. methinks there's a pantload of crystal balling in that, but compared to the description when it happened, bloody good

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

he took a mark against Sydney early in the year and landed exactly the same way as he went down today and was all fine that night so I reckon he's just got those type of knees that can take a great deal of stress and get away with it compared to most other athletes.

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

Has any other player had this before?

1/2 fit Stevie J worth it?

I think he'll have to do a Stokes.
See Milburn coming in next week as sub.

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

I reckon he'll end up playing because you'd assume the swelling will subside and it will feel a whole deal better in a week's time but it will restrict him from his kicking but even if he can stay close to goal for the game he'll take the best defender and can still kick 2 or 3 goals only 90% fit. This will sound bloody stupid am sure..if he does play and is slightly restricted it could very well be a blessing in disguise as he won't push up the ground in the middle and we can then have him play in the forward line where the defenders will start to worry and it then gives Pods and Hawkins more of a free run at the ball

if SJ is restricted to play close to goal (rather than as part of mid rotation) would you see one of your other small forwards go into the rotation, or youll survive with the remaining group ?

someone of his experience & determination says he'll play.

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

we have a forward we can lend you if need be
quite tall and can slot goals from time to time
lance i think his name is
he might help...

Knowing Chris Scott, he won't even risk a player who's 90% fit and ready to go but will bring in another player. If he does play I think it definitely squares up the Reid injury down your end and ironically could see them both match up on each at some stage on the day.

It means Chappy will likely spend most of the match in the middle as the bigger stronger body and sure kicking will benefit the team. Dunno if Chappy has the tank though as Stevie J has a pretty amazing running capacity

Re: Steve Johnson's knee

Not sure how they would know that. Reports saying it could be a twisted knee, or a MCL.

It's dislOcated kneecap, luckily he can still walk.. And hopefully he van play in the grnad final. Go cats!!!!

hopefully we don't also risk his future by taking a chance and playing him even though it's do or die..he's 28 years of age and he has another 4-5 years ahead of him and we all know what the appeal of playing in finals despite the injury can do in the long run (Egan:()

All year we haven't taken any player in who hasn't been right can't see us bucking that trend this week, if SJ isn't right think Dasher will come in as sub Duncan into starting 21 playing forward

Looked terrible at the time, so did Bartels for that matter. Hope hes right to go.

Please kick the Pies ass

possibly play Milburn forward? He's played there before with success and would be a similar role to what Johnson provides except for the unexpected
