There are a number of players in the top 10 who will be better than Salopek.

What we should do is offer a current player or players for Salopek.
But not duds, PA will not fall for that, as we now know.

Offer up O'Bree, Lonie, Cole or some other player of ability (or combinations) if we really want Salopek

Well everyone on here constantly tells me what good players Lonie and Cole are, I just went along with the crowd.

What PA will not accept is McGough or similar, we tried that last year, so we have to offer up players that are better than him (on the assumption that Salopek is worth going after).

The next level up after that is Didak, BJ, Lica etc and I would not be supportive of trading them.

Salopek hasn't shown anything in his AFL appearances to date to justify his high selection (#6) in the draft a few years ago. When compared to contemporaries like Schammer (#13) he has shown very little.

Shouldeer reco and Glandular fever have stymied Salopeks development in his 2 seasons at Port. Also, a reasonable tough midfield to get a gig in at the moment, especially for a player who has been out for quite a while.
Is thought very highly of by Port, who see him as a replacement for Roger James/Josh Francou down the track.
The only question mark over him is the 'home' factor as we saw with Nick Stevens. After 2 seasons here, and now out of contract I do not know how things a progressing as far as contracts are concerned?
As for trades,

At the start of the season I had a thread suggesting thaty Salopek will come to Collingwood, or Collingwood will be his prime target. The bagging of the thread didn't stop, but.... what have we got here.

Steve Salopek will be great trade, and wearing the Pies jumper for most of his football career (Narre Warren) and not sure who he plays for in the SANFL - Could be Port Magpies. Anyway.... Salopek is a good alround footballer, and if we want to tradew O'Bree - then that might be it, a straight swap.

From my point of view, Pick 7 is not to be traded at all!.!.!.!.!

Plays for Glenelg in the SANFL unfortunately(kicked 6 goals last week for them).

Not a fan of O'Brees, so would not be all that happy with that. Or Lokans, and I saw him playing for Port in his SANFL days.

Salopek does NOT have pace to burn. Is very much in the Roger James, Josh Francou mold if he can develop.

I know he is a big Saints supporter, so Port may look at them for a trade, and no offence but they probably have more to trade currently than than you guys(the working relationship might be better as well ).

But to be honest I do not see Port wanting to lose him yet, so it would have to be his decision to leave, and then he could be on is way to Richmond via the PSD?

What would you be willing to give in a Dew - Salopek package though??

And I would not bother with the names: Mcgough/Walker/Lonie/Davis/O'Bree/Lokan as I could not see Port being interested in any of those.

Don't think Lokan will be used for the trade, unless they show some interest him because of him being from Port. But I think another year or two at the Pies, he will come good.

You would give DP number 7, but not Cole for Dew?? Cole burns the ball a bit much. Had him in my Dream Team, and so watched him a bit, and he seems to turn it over by last second panicky handballs a bit. Hard at it though.
