Wasn't actually held, there was an arm held across in front of Walters impeding his progress.
Walters went to ground rather than contesting the ground ball.
Play on was an excellent piece of umpiring

It si clear to all non-hawks supporters what a baltant cheat this prick is.

Our best chance to win was to pressure like mad and get ahead early and then try to hold on.

Hawks were nowhere and didnt look like scoring until the cheating bastard pulled a bullshit reversal out of nowhere and then gifted Cyril another for god knows what.

Hawks in front and momentum swung- job done by Stevic.

Overall, HAwks were better team and bloody hell they are good- yet they seem to play under different rules.

Stevic is really good umpire to the technicalities of the laws. He's not very good at umpiring to the spirit of the game and has an extremely hard time at consistently applying the rules to how we, the supporter, want them to be adjudicated. I think this Hawthorn bias thing is something that's caught momentum and will never stop. Hawthorn stop being good and this Stevic stuff dissipates. The thing with Stevic, is he does occasionally go too far the other way to attempt to hide his Hawks bias.

For those thinking that he was only favouring hawthorn need to take your blinkers off and rewatch the 3rd quarter.

here is one incident that he was only 10 m away from looking right at

Hodge looking straight at stevic

clear head high elbow/shoulder to the head

thats how close he was, got within a meter before the freo player could stand up

Were a number of other incidents where the umpiring went against the hawks and ofc there were a number that went against freo. Its not bias when an umpire makes a mistake, its human. These things happen and they are infuriating when they go against your team but they go against both teams.

How about the rioli waiting under the flight of the ball about a second before its arrived and gets a knee in the back. Any other day that would have been unrealistic attempt free to rioli for jumping into his back too early. Instead its a shepherd from the marking contest, THE BALL IS MID FLIGHT!!!! how do you know he isnt going for the ball? if the ball lands and he made no attempt thats another things, but you cant pay a free kick for blocking when you can still realistically compete for the ball, its called body work not blocking.

last night i really wanted hawks to win just for the lol's of freo failling again, however the display of umpiring was terrible early - they then tried to even it up and then hawks got more of it in junk time. In the end it probably wouldn't have mattered but its was so obvious.
