I'm hearing conflicting reports on the extent of Stevo's injury.

Some say it's his knee! (PLEASE NO!)
Some say it's his calf!

Anyone got any concrete information on this?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If it is a knee reconstruction can someone please pass me the razor blades. I would never wish that on any player, but Stevo is my favorite player. :(

We wont know till tommorow but we all know how tough this guy is he is made of steel. I seems like a knee they said so on MMM but how bad it is we dont know? Harro and Hardo how did they go in the Ballarat game? We missed Simmo as well but he should be back next week. Remember that, that lumbering Primus did his knee and was back real quick maybe it wont be that bad. Hope its only a strain we need the little champ.

Sorry to say, but from what i have heard its a Knee, which is bad luck. On ABC radio they said he had been holding his knee for a while, then he hurt something when he and Wilson clashed. Maybe it was his calf, but that may have finished off the knee as well. I hope not, because Stevens is a good player, and no player deserves a Knee Recon! Also on Basils footy show it was sid to be his knee.

AFL website have indicated that it is a knee and he will be out of action for 12 months. Whilst it is devestating news, it does create a bit of competition for his spot and give somebody else the opportunity to move to the next step. However, they are very big shoes to fill..

Now, concentrate on that feeling when you found out he needed a recon and multiply it by 4. Thats how we've felt this year with Sierrakowski, Read, Prior and Morrison all out with recos. BTW, do all knee recos take 12 months? Hopefully he doesn't need a reco cause a lot of the time players are never quite the same afterwards. Bad luck to him. :(

You idiot... name one from the above that are anywhere near the player Stevo is... so I say multiply it by 2.1....

Why is everyone commenting on what it is? We will find out TODAY when they do their scan, THEN we will know. Until then, let's just keep our fingers crossed. And those players combined might just make up half of Stevo's worth....

on 927 this morning the roos football manager said it was an acl and that he would be out for 12 months, which is shocking luck for stevo.

it's disappointing for all football supporters to see the great players miss so many games with injuries but i'm sure that stevos great work ethic and comitment will see him back better than ever some time next year, lets hope so anyway, his due a change of luck.

Anthony Stevens has been with North Melbourne since 1989. He is loved and respected by all. We are concerned about Anthony the person. We are not just focused on Oh s-it we have a player out with a knee.

I feel absolutely gutted for the bloke, after what he has been through last year and to come back playing inspirational footy again. How much courage does the guy have, after he hurt his knee in the first clash, (you can see him clutch at the knee on the replay) he stands in the hole in front of the pack and gets hit again, pure guts.

All the best with your recovery, Stevo.

What a tough little bloke he is. After nearly getting killed in that accident last year, to come back and be a leader and role model once again is priceless stuff. Stevo was having a sensational year too, and while it's a huge loss to the team it's really rotten luck on a personal basis, because after missing most of last year he has played probably the best footy of his career in 2001.

Good luck champ! We all hope you come back fitter, stronger, and even more determined to play a part in our 2002 & 2003 Premierships!

With that huge heart that beats within his body, it wouldn't surprise me if Stevo followed in Libba's footsteps by recovering from a knee reconstruction in under three months....which would make him ready for round 1 next year rather than round 15 or so.

But as Hotham said this injury pales into insignificance when compared to what happened to Stevo a year and a half ago.

Worse news possible to happen to a great guy who's well respected in footy circles. King's a tough nut after he came back from that heavy knock with Wilson in the first quarter too.

Stevens aims to start 2002
By Chris Lines

Monday, July 16, 2001

KANGAROOS midfield star Anthony Stevens is determined to be back for the start of 2002 after being diagnosed today with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Stevens, 30, will undergo a reconstruction tomorrow after damaging the knee in yesterday's win over West Coast - an injury that normally took 12 months recovery.

Rather than considering retirement, the misfortune-plagued Stevens was planning to rush back for next year.

'Leading toward the finals, the side's starting to play good football, we desperately need the majority of wins for the rest of the year, so it's shattering but it's part of life isn't it,' Stevens said.

'I'll be trying to get myself for pre-season hopefully.

'I won't be pushing myself too hard in pre-season but come Christmas time I'll be really pushing myself to be right - that's my aim, you've got to have an aim.'

Stevens was nearly killed last year when a hotel window fell on him, slicing into his neck and face, and while he was cursing more bad luck, he was able to put the latest blow in the right perspective.

'I'm wondering if I ran over a black cat somewhere, but it's part of life and just another hurdle to get over,' Stevens said.

'Last year I looked down the barrel of never playing footy again.

'Being close to losing my life last year does put everything into perspective - football's everything to me at the moment but there's still other things out there in life to do.'

Statements like those made by Stevo in the abovementioned
article are proof of how gutsy we all know Stevo is.

What rotten luck for Stevo.

Best of luck in recouperation , we all want to see you out on the field as soon as possible for the Kangas.....

The legend of Anthony Stevens will live for ever around our great club. He is an absolute superstar a champion and a legend. If anyone doubts this bloke he comes back better and better. The kids that are at our club must look at this man of steel that wears #10 in awe.
He has done it all and there is no fuss no bother just a part of life. Injury after injury he takes them all on nothing is to hard. That is why he has a few treasured medals under his roof and another couple to come. I have no doubt he is leading the Syd Barker at the moment and would have won his third but a set back has meant that the little champ will focus on next season. Look out I say he will be awesome probably in a different role tho but he will still dominate.
Just think of the inspiration that this man gives to the players around him. "Nah she's right ill be back soon" and he will be around the club spurring them all on in the fashion he does at training every night.
The next guy that wears the #10 after it has had its customary year off will have one of the biggest honours at North. He gets no media focus no bells and whistles just keeps getting the ball and winning the contest. He would have to be the most underrated player in the league. STEVO YOU ARE A LEGEND !!!!

Denis said he just wanted to walk out of the coaches box and get on the plane and come home when he heard the news about Stevo at quarter time. I dont blame him, I am glad they didnt tell us about it during the game, as I know I wouldnt have enjoyed it after that either

The mental toughness of this Champion is something I will never forget in my life time!

If he doesn't make the team of the century - I'll take up snail racing instead of baracking for the Roos.

GET WELL SOON STEVO, YOU ARE THE ENGINE ROOM OF THE KANGAS!!
